well I went to home depot on the way home and picked up a 12v LED MR16 spot light ran the wires to it and damn this thing is way brighter thenthe factory light.
I am now moding a old honda 90 headlight bucket to mount this light in so i do not damage my original so i can allways go back to stock if need be. Next i will run the bike for awhile and see what happens with the bulbs.

I will post pics tonight to show how bright the LED MR16 really is.

but it still dont under stand how the 12v LEDs run totally fine on a 6volt circuit i know they are low draw but i thought that was just amps?? LEDs are like in millamps right?

Thanks for the encouragement..I need it...I have been dragging my feet on this bike it needs so many little things done to it it starts to be a bit to deal with and then i got side tracked but now i figure what the hell it runs its plated i better keep 'er going. i went off on a 4hr journey yeesterday for a parts bike that ended up being a hodgepodge bunch of parts from diffrent bikes that was a total joke. but i did manage to get a deep shouldered DID front rim an original Kawasaki enduro trip meter a mikuni carb and some old school center mount gas tank and other odds and ends all for $40 so i wasnt out too much $$

heres a pic of the LED light sealed in a extra headlight bucket i had lying around.

thanks for the heads up..the wife is gone this weekend maybe i can head up there......nah she'd kill me

I'm in it to far with what i got to justify a parts bike or a second one right now..i just want this thing done..just need to sqaure away the carb and located some shocks and its basically done. i am bringing the plastics back to original the best i can and wont drop the $$$$ for the repros for a bike thats not worth anything

i need to get this bike done asap so i can pick up a new project...just found a BSA B40 Scrambler and a '73 SL 350.....now those would be some cool bikes...real old school off road

Kaw thumpers

Jeff - know a guy who has the big brother to this. Think it's 500. Fact that yours is plated is a bonus. Like a few others here just can't remember this model at all. Not many moto rags passed by without being dissected. Hope the project is going well. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Sounds as we have the same type of obstacles regarding garage time. Must also be about the same age judging by the bikes which catch your eye. They all sound like fun! Looking forward to pixs!

i got off work early today and started tinkering in the garage.. the bike has turned into a totally different direction.. I am setting it up for some amateur flat track. I have set up dirt bikes in the past for flat track and have done pretty well then went to race speedway for awhile and had a bad wreck that put me out for over a year..but the spring time in upon us and racing season is here and i got the bug bad.

The bike has been lowered ruffly 3-4" looks lean and mean i also have my 38mm mikuni dialed in pretty good. gonna throw some universal tread tires on it call it good and take it out for some fun in April !!

pics tomorrow..it was too dark tonight in the garage to get a good shot.

here she is sitting way lower about 4" at the seat. With the 21" and the long rake it will probably be a bitch to get to turn in but oh well its all for fun..I'm not gonna de-rake the front end 'cause i would like it to be able to go back to its offroad self easily. next on the list is an air filter and some tires...trying to find some Dunlop K180's i know they use to make them in a 21" but i cant seem to find any.
(EDIT:) Found the tires.. aaracing.com and Tiresunlimited.com have them listed.looks like a phone call or two in the morning
