My name is dan and i live in Australia. This forum rocks!. I just sold my Ducati multistrada as it did not satify my needs on the dirt. Quite crap acually!
So i have some cash to spend and i was going to buy a GS. Thank god i found this forum. Forget the GS , without even taking a 990 for a ride as yet im convinced it will be the bike for me! I have 25 years experience riding. I have raced dirt bikes for a few years (KTM 520), done over 100 track days on my various ducatis over the years and now im going for somthing new.
I still own a 998 race bike for track use only, but now i want to explore the world with a big duel purpose bike. The 990 looks like lots of fun!
Im going to buy a new one shortly.
I have one question.
does any one know or recomend a few bike shops on the west coast to buy accessories?? I frequenly visit the States and parts are around half price over there, so i want to buy pipes and a few other bits over there. The achro pipe are $4000 AU over here!!!
Any help would be great.

Yup, KTM Twins/Scuderia is the best place. Have alot of stuff in stock and you can call to pre order anything so that they will have it waiting in a box for you when you get there.

Scuderia is the bomb, I should know as I live in SF and work not far from their shop. You might call/write ahead in case there's something you need that won't be in stock that way you get all the bits you need while here.

I spent several great years on Ducatis - street and racing and can tell you that you will like the transition to a KTM twin. Different kind of power but still a twin at heart. You will love it, especially if you will spend time off the tarmac.
I have the same question as the others - where on the west coast? If the Northwest as in Seattle is on your list PM me and I can put you in touch with some local dealers. Also, plan ahead - not all of them stock Akras etc but with a few weeks notice they can have them.
