Cool2 Baseball in 1944 in UK ?

I do WW2 re enacting ( 82nd ABN, 505th) in the UK & when were in Normandy for the 70th anniversary this June we 12 dirty dozen parked our 1939 Duce & 1/2 on the Beach & played baseball.
Problem is we don't really know what we are doing, but we had a great laugh.
We intend to do more of this, coz it's fun & it's what they did.

Q. With only 6-12 guys: how should do we organize 2 teams & where do
We get info about scoring etc

Q. What sort of gloves, balls, bats did they use in 1944?

Cheers

Bats should be the same, as long as you get unstained ones. Getting old-style gloves will be tough, maybe impossible. They've really changed since then. I would guess that the best you could do would be to match the color, but not the size and shape. Side-by-side, a 1950s glove and a present day glove.

As for teams, I'm curious to see what people suggest. An exhibition would be easy -- the team that's at bat only has one player on the field at a time, until they have base runners. So you could field a full defensive team.

If you really want to play a game, versus just having an exhibition, then I suppose you could cut down the number of outfielders, maybe only have three infielders instead of four. .

Rules? Oh my. Here's a simple explanation. What level of knowledge do you already have? Would you like something even simpler than the info I linked to?

Thanks for that. I have a glove on its way from eBay but it isn't that old looking. Think I get the idea a bit better
Cheers :)

I hope you post photos and a story if you ever make this happen.
