That's only a flesh wound.

I agree that this will be the impetus to step away and deal with some other pressing issues, but what do I know.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Dressed in his Sunday red shirt, Tiger Woods bowed his head and sat in silence in front of his locker.

He was supposed to be on the ninth hole at The Players Championship. In another stunning twist for someone whose life used to be so predictable, Woods withdrew suddenly with neck pain that he fears might be a bulging desk.

Woods was so frustrated that he slammed his golf shoe to the floor while taking questions from three reporters.

“I’ve been playing through it,” Woods said of pain he first felt before the Masters. “I can’t play through it anymore.”

Woods said did not know what caused the injury, only that “playing doesn’t help it.” He took 10 questions before going into a physical therapy trailer for 37 minutes and leaving the TPC Sawgrass.

The only time he has ever mentioned his neck was during his news conference last month at the Masters.

Woods was taken to the hospital Nov. 27 after driving his SUV over a fire hydrant and into a tree, the infamous accident that set off shocking revelations of extramarital affairs that led to his five-month break from golf.

Asked at Augusta what injuries had sent him to the hospital, Woods said, “I had a busted-up lip and a pretty sore neck, and that was it.”

He didn’t mention the pain when he missed the cut last week for the sixth time in his career at Quail Hollow. But it became obvious something was wrong Sunday on the par-4 seventh hole at Sawgrass.
When I was 19 I stormed off the course while playing with my Dad, I was pissed because I missed a couple of shots. Three hours later my Dad finished his round alone and told me if I ever did that again he was going to throw away my clubs. I never saw him that mad the entire time I had him, a lesson that stayed with me for the rest of my playing career over the next 30 years. No matter how lousy I played or how disappointed I was I never quit again, although there were times I damn sure wanted to.

It's probably too late for Tiger to grow up. He's done as a competitor, I think it's highly unlikely we'll see him on the course again. When we see him in other places he'll be the guy wearing sunglasses.

I think we'll see him back, but his Mojo is definitely gone. Will he ever be as dominant? Doubt it, still could return as A top golfer, but doubt al a Tyson is time of pure domination is gone. He will no longer be THE top golfer.

Too bad this didn't all come out later in life for him like it did with Bill Tilden.

I wouldn't go that far, especially with all the rumours about him moving to Sean Foley as his new swing coach.

He needs Sigmund Freud for the course between his ears.

When I used to play bad I would just flag down the beer cart, get some minatures to go with more beer and get hammered.
These guys are taking this golf thing waaay too serious.

Is it not possible that he really injured his neck in the car wreck?

Wilt Chamberlain didn't quit basketball.

Wilt was never married, nor acknowledged any children.

Shannon Sharpe had at least 4 fun babies by 3 different women while he played, and nobody really cared during his career.

With Tiger, it seems to be the way he conducted his liaisons, while married, that struck a nerve.

Plus being hit with a golf club by your wife doesn't help matters.

He did dishonor himself, but how old is he?

Have you seen the thing about Ambien addiction?

I would be willing to bet that he makes a comeback.
