You seem to think that because someone has something wrong with them they're miraculously exempt from personal responsibility.

Bullshit.

I'm an alcoholic. How I deal with it is very much my responsibility. Putting a label on behavior doesn't magically excuse it.

Woods acted like a complete prick. He's responsible for that. His behavior was aberrant, I think pathological. It's still his responsibility to see that and deal with it.

The other thing I've posted that seems to stir folks up is saying that Woods is mentally strong enough to overcome any negative stuff when he plays again. Dunno why that pisses folks off but it sure seems to.

Funny thing how fellow pros have been saying the same thing in the last couple of weeks.

I'm still willing to bet that he wins this season. Any takers?

The fact he likes to poke girls who aren't his wife shouldn't affect his ability to play golf. I don't see him getting the yips.

Win a PGA TOUR event or a major in 2010.

Takers?

Those who get upset with me say there will be hecklers and distractions on the course and difficult questions in the press tent that will affect Woods' concentration.

They didn't like being disagreed with.

Not only is Woods mentally the strongest golfer of his era, the TOUR has a vested interest in protecting him to the greatest extent possible. Woods = money, both in attendance and television ratings. So I'm guessing that hecklers can expect a short stay on the golf course and media credentials will be issued with great care.

The angry posters also overlook that one of Woods' major advantages over any opponent he's paired with is that he's used to the noisy circus that always surrounds him and they're not.

A single golf match out of all of them?
Do you think that the greatest golfer alive can pull out ONE win?

IIRC you stated somewhere in here that he would be back by March.

I'll take a bet that he won't win any-fucking-thing in March besides the congeniality award at the sex rehab joint!

PM me for the amount. --Small gentleman bet.

Hmmm, I don't remember predicting that he'd be back by March. Maybe you're thinking of someone else?

I agree, I don't think he'll win anything in March.

I do think he'll be back in time for the Masters.

You know, most golfers don't win anything for years on end. Winning even a single tournament makes it a good year for the vast majority of players who qualify for the PGA TOUR. Winning is very difficult.

Again, I'm willing to bet that Woods will win in 2010 either on the PGA TOUR or a major. Any takers?

Big difference between winning the Tostitos Open and the Masters. The odds are a whole lot greater for the former rather than the later. He's having trouble showing his face in public, I say no majors in 2010.

To the first point, looks like the haters here need to send Butch Harmon, his old coach, some of the same hate you've been sending my way.

Quote:
"The difficult part, in my opinion, is going to be the heckling from the galleries," he said. "He is going to get it.

"If he plays in the Ryder Cup (in Wales in October) which I happen to think he will, that is going to be very interesting."

Harmon, who believes Woods is likely to return for one of the four PGA Tour events in Florida in March, said the 34-year-old American was strong enough to turn the other cheek to the crowds.

"He is the strongest person mentally that's ever played our game," said Harmon. "If there is anyone who can block out this extra stuff that is going on around him, he is probably the guy.

It may have been back when you were linking, quoting, and on the Butch Harmon knows what is up bandwagon.

I really think you are scaling back the hyperbole to reality and should be commended for it!

To think that the world's greatest golfer and the one who will take Jack's record might win one tournament of any kind this year is quite a comeback and undoubtably demonstrates his greatest asset.

But then, you know that. You know golf and we don't.
