2009 F800GS Oil Filter

I couldn't get the oil filter at my local dealer. Doe sanyone know a part number for a WIX, FRAM, K&N or any other filter that will work?

Will the 1200GS filter work?

F800 Oil filer

I get mine at AutoZone - (K&N) usually have to phone in the order and charge, for pickup in 2 or 3 days. I get 3 or 4 at a time. $12 each

KN-164 Oil Filter

17 mm nut makes for much easier take-off and installation.

I don't know about the 1200GS filter, but the K1200S is the same. Only difference is the big copper o ring. and if the dealer did not have one, I would think you could reuse the old one.

Dealer gave me the same part# and filter for the GSA as the F8GS so yes it will work and yes they are the same!

I now have a question about the oil filters for the 800GS. When I bought the filter from the dealer I had commented on it being the same part # as my K1200S. They said they were all the same.

I have bought another filter from my dealer and again they gave me the same part# as the first time.

Today I changed the oil and when I was putting the old filter in my filter bucket, I noticed that the original filter the one that the bike came with was slightly bigger and does not have the baffle in it.

So I checked the part # listed for the F 800GS and it is different.

What the dealer has been giving me is # 11 42 7 673 541. What is listed for the bike is # 11 42 7 719 357.

So have they changed or have I been getting the wrong filter?

I will take a picture in a minute and post the filters.

Ask your dealer to check ETK. Correct part number is:11427719357

Part #11427673541 is for R and K bikes, no F bikes.

Went through this a couple of months ago with my dealer. The parts guy shoudl be able to show the listing in ETK.

Here is a few pics of the filters, the original filter is longer and does not have the baffle. Also just so slightly the gasket is wider/thicker. Don't know what the deal is. The original/correct filter is the one without the part# on it.

No harm that I know of. Just pointing out that I went through the same scenario as the OP, but in my case the previous oil change was done at the dealer (1000 Km). Did they put on the wrong filter at the 1K Km interval?, or, is part#11427719357 an updated part? I asked the question, but no tech was there that Saturday morning, and I didn't bother to follow-up on it. As long as I had the right part I was happy.

I got K&N KN-164 filters, mainly because they have a 17mm nut welded at the top for easy removal.

However, what i got from the deler is that there are different filters for the 1200 and the 800. They do install the 1200 filters on 800s as they do fit. However, BMW has a separate part number for a differnet part (filter) for each bike.

Now that I'm looking into this, I just went on A&S cycles site. Check out what they are selling. They are listing the filter# that I was given. I don't get it, maybe BMW has gone to this. http://www.ascycles.com/BMW-f800gs-p...bikes&Any=True

I noticed a slight change in the way the oem filter looks now from the original myself.

I don't know/remember the part numbers, but last week when I went to buy another filter from my dealer I noticed that it didn't come in the nice little box they used too. When I mentioned it to the parts guy he said the "yeah, and the part numbers have changed for the filters on these bikes too."

They both look pretty much the same, the new one didn't have all the writing on the side of it and maybe a very slight size difference but it was close enough not to think about.
