Has anyone seen the WikiTravel entry for the Kolyma Highway?

ROB is definitely on my bucket list.

As for Wiki - I cant comment on the geographic accuracy, but based on the numerous books, ride reports and personal accounts I would seriously questions the validity of comments like "Many towns lack police, but not people with financial problems, so either camp out of town or don't look rich. Drunken people are more common in winter, and can occasionally be bothersome."

My thoughts exactly, it's completely at odds with everything I've read or seen too.

Fine photos!

I wandered through the BAM road RR a while back. This was a nice reminder of the fun and frolic you have found in the wild Russian East.

Thanks for the posts!

A temporary Hijack of this thread

I just ran across some information about "The coldest town on earth" and I thought it might be interesting to review in the context of this forum . It is a town called Oymyakon in the Siberian providence of Yakutia which is on the Kolyma Highway----which I think is also called the "Road of Bones". There are some interesting facts---and pictures---of the area contained here:

I hope this link will work----I'm not so computer savvy-----maybe you will have to cut and paste?

I now return you to your regularly scheduled program thank you.

The Twin neighboring towns of Oimyakon and Tomtor both claim the title.

You can read more about riding there on this thread:
