Which one to purchase and why?
Greetings from, Ontario, Canada
This spring the plan is to purchase a new KTM Adventure....any thoughts as the purchase of the standard over the R model? I will be using it for commuting, and hopefully across Canada in 2011..so mostly highway. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated Ride safe Gobear 2008 Xr650L |

Just a hunch but I'd bet the non R version would end up being more reliable in the long run. More performance equals more troubles. The guru's will correct if I'm worng I am sure. The R version looks real nice though and money wasn't an issue in life I'd have one. Either way excellent bikes.

you also have to consider that R's may not be as widely available in Ontario as one would like to think.
I'd start with Parker Bros and go from there. Good luck

Standard 4U?
From your discription of where you gonna ride the big boy...maybe you'd be better suited to the standard model. It is more road biased (lower seat height and ABS) but still more than capable off-road.....the ABS can be disabled for off road so theres no worries there....so long as you remember to do it!.....but the R is funky lookin.
