I think the beef is that traditionally we offer an ADV "discount" as in prices here are generally a touch lower than "public pricing" lot's of us here sell bikes, and don't make any money on inmates (I have actually lost money, and still send a few duckets up to Baldy just for making this family available to me/us at no charge... that's ADV Baby

Like you said- Your wheels, sell 'em for what you wanna sell them for. Me? I try to keep it in the family whenever possible YMMV

Well that helps clarify. But not sure it merits that kind of freak out. So that its clear, I wont be taking $2,600 at this point via anyone on craigslist. Its up here for $2,600 and that wont change for you guys (sure it wont make grumpy up there happy but oh well).

If you want to make an offer on my VFR that I will do an "Inmate Deal". I really didn't mean to offend anyone.

Sorry guys. Inmate or no inmate $2,600 is the least I can stand to let my baby KTM go for.

Apologies for the misunderstanding on the pricing stuff. No offense intended.

I think this exchange raised some eyebrows.

From my reading, you were going to sell it to someone for $2600, but would rather sell it to an inmate (or anyone else) for $2700. The pricing structure felt...inverted. Then that deal fell through and you lowered the price to $2600.

Inmates generally try and do this, one of my reasons is that by posting here you can screen out the CL tire kickers and potentially sell it quicker. But it's your bike.

Not sure it qualifies as a "freak out", go over to CS&M for those.

Anyway, my $0.02 and best with your sale.

1975 Yamaha DT250B; vintage enduro fun!

Looking to possibly sell my 1975 Yamaha DT250 vintage enduro weapon. Started out as a regular DT250B, but has had some work done to make it a little more race friendly. Some of these mods/after market upgrades include:

YZ 250 fork lowers/springs (they do "top" now and then, needs a good spacer)
Hooker Pipe
SC 500 Silencer
K&N Filter (Still stock airbox though; no erratic idle)
Oil Pump Disconnected; Cable "transfer" box removed (single, Barnett cable for throttle)
Stripped of all electrics
YZ250 tank
Boyesen Reeds
Vintage Iron Plates/Side Panels
Moose handlebars

Bike runs perfectly; starts 2nd or 3rd kick cold, and once warm, idles like a sweet dream. It's been dialed in properly; no detonation, pinging or erratic behavior. Motor is a good one (previous owner said it is on 2nd over piston). Gear box, clutch, and iginition are all perfect.

Cosmetically, it is average. Wheels are straight, but do have some rust on the wheels, as well as the frame. Had planned to do a little refresh with the cosmetics, but just been riding it as it is. Newer Dunlop tires front and rear with loads of tread left. The tank is okay on the inside; it could use a coating of Caswell or some similar treatment (I do have an extra, immaculate tank that is just primer for extra). Been running Maxima Castor and haven't had to change a plug in months.

Bike is ready for vintage MX (probably need to regear to really be competitive) or, as I had been using it for, vintage enduros/hare-scrambles. Rear suspension is stock and not completely worn out, but would consider purchasing some better shocks if you plan to start winning on a regular basis.

I do not have a title, nor was I given one. Also do not have any of the original parts, sans a spare front wheel (conical hub, good shape). Never meant to make it street legal again. This is a race bike, not a museum piece.

Asking $900 for inmate price. Bike is located in Palm Coast, while I am in Tallahassee. I could arrange meeting at some point if so desired.

I have the stock skid plate, but I suspect you want a bigger aftermarket...
