i think i saw the KLX650 on CL he bought. looked real nice and was only 850$, but since i had no ride of my own i had to wait for whenever my dad could take me out to look at it, it sold before he was able to drive me out that way.

somehow i knew someone was gonna suggest this one to me. I remember when it was first posted at around 2000$. since i need a daily driver, im gonna stay away from that one since its an old Swedish bike and near impossible to find parts for, and it has no kickstand, speedo, or tachometer. id be taking a 900$ gamble on that. and seen the 50 too. it is nice, except its a 50, and a 2 stroke. Thanks for the suggestions though! yet if its posted on craigslist within 150 ~ 200 miles of central FL, ive already seen it.

Check out the jax Craigslist. There was a 98 KLR250 for sale this morning for $1000. Not a lot of hp, but reliable as a stone.

Little KLRs don't get a lotta love here on ADV, but you could do a lot worse for a do-it-all bike. I had a '98 KLR250 myself for a few years; rugged, reliable, low-maintenance and cheap. I see 'em selling for a grand or so pretty often.

10+ yr. old XT225s sell in the same price range, they're a little down on power vs. the KLR but ya get electric start in the tradeoff. I had a little XT too, and had lotsa fun on that little bike.

Both the KLR and the XT beat the hell outta drivin a cage, and that's the triple truth, RUTH!

I saw that one as well. was painted maroon. if its on CL in FL within 200 miles of Orlando, ive seen it i was pondering that one but i guess im gonna have to take the good Dr's advice and wait even longer for something to come along.

try putting a 'wanted' ad on CL, it doesnt cost anything, & who knows, you may find what you are looking for.

You wouldnt want the KLX I got, top end is apart, and no title.

NOPE REDUCED to $1000 even - someone shouldn't have to "pay" for my jackassery (ie: not leaving the title open)

Bought from a bud that needed a cash infusion for $1K, and then, like a dumbass, I spent another $145 on registration/title because I closed out the title.
13,242 original miles. Runs strong - needs carb tweaked to be perfect. Great brakes, suspension seems okay to me. I've only ridden it around my neigborhood a few times - enough to know that it ain't bent anywhere. It tracks straight and no wierd stuff happening in the front end or rear. Strong, solid clutch, and it shifts just fine through the six speeds.
It ain't perfect, but it starts, runs, shifts, stops, and will even wheelie pretty easily.
Prefer local sale. Title in hand.
