Welcome ba94563!
Thanks Paul; enjoying your recent photos! Tapatalk is fun so far ... Got married, she got me a blog (so I could start posting pics to ADV), she got rid of my old cell phone and plan, got me a smart phone and downloaded Tapatalk for me ... Guess I'm a work in progress ... Ha! So far tt is the killer smartphone app for me ... Here's a pic from the Siuslaw National Forest ... On the Oregon coast near Florence ... We're on streetbikes ('99 VFR & '88 K75s) but had to get off 101 S to get away from traffic ... 299 S and forest roads between 20 & 34 and 34 & 36 (Deadwood) & 126 & 101 .. The forest roads here are maintained to rental-car standards ... just incredible. We camped at the Sweetwater Beaver Creek trailhead ... Waterfalls and saw a family of four otters this am ... Fun! OK ... See you around the campfire ... -- SFMCjohn

Hey... I recognize that spot! That's the "Kick IXAB's Ass On Mile 70" scenic rest area. We were going up, and there was a moment or two where I considered just sticking a for sale sign on my Husky and walking out.
Nice pics! |

Ideally, standing on the pegs, crouched/knees bent with your weight over the bars, elbows up and ON THE GAS while looking as far ahead as you can see. Easier said than done unless you do it often enough.

for really steep downhill stuff many guys do this technique
1. turn the bike off in first gear 2. use your clutch as your rear brake and use your front brake normally (use lots of front brake when the bike is straight up and not turning) if the front starts to slide when braking let up some. 3. CONTROL YOUR SPEED !! 4. look far ahead and pick your line way before you get there 5. some guys just lock the rear brake and then worry about the front brake for slowing down when its really steep

Down Hill
Again standing crouched/bent knees with your ass as far back as possible. Lots of rear brake and or engine off. First gear is to low and will skid vs roll the wheel. Front brake for control but don't lock the wheel or else. Look ahead to where you want to go. Let it roll.Andy, We need some more Mendo time.
