I hate to do it but it will not be fun to BBQ oysters in the rain and cold.
We will try again in feb. 11th or 18th what ever works best for you people

Hi WoodsChick,
Saw your ride report on BARF ... Great! (Here's a link)

I was trying to support what you guys are doing with the "Adventure Riding" thread over there, but had trouble with the HTML, so I posted here instead ... (just need to upload bigger pics for BARF threads) ... Next time!

Hope your shoulder is better!
See you around the campfire,

I'm hoping to spend some time on the Carrizo Plain this year. We'll see if life agrees with that or has plans of its own.

Hi Just Paul and scottmac,

Fun places to explore ... Bring your guns! Ha.

It's hard to tell who is who out there ... It is mostly used by gun people, so there were lots of paramilitary and SWAT looking gun guys with big guns ... We just waved & they rolled their eyes at us ... Dressing like a clown and riding a Barbie KLR confuses the enemy, I guess ... Anyway, no one hassled us ...

Springtime is spectacular, as you both know ...
See you around the campfire, or at the Mendo Rally,

I'm almost positive when I went down and explored the Panoche Hills, where John's pics are from, the area was signed "No Motorcycles". I could be wrong though. It was almost a year ago that I was down there. I was exploring the area in my truck, shooting, and looking for pig sign... of which there was none. The area is also closed from Spring to Fall due to fire danger. (I'm sure that's got something to do with the cattle ranchers that are right next to the area.)

As a side note... If anybody here wants to go down there to shoot or pig hunt PM me. (I've been hunting at Laguna Mountain as well.)

No dirtbikes ...?

Hey Todd,

I may have seen a universal-generic "no dirtbikes" stick figure sign ... I think they don't want the hillsides torn up by dirtbike tires riding off the established roads ... our license plates and street registration puts us in a small subset of registered vehicles, which I don't think are excluded from going where a jeep would go on the established roads, and aren't the bikes the "no motorcycles" signs are referring to ... but who knows? It's a gray area until they put up the universal-generic stick figure sign of a BMW GSA with a plate ... ha! Sort of like the "street registered vehicles only" signs that I've seen in Mendo around Middle Creek ...

Anyway, I'll stick to the Carrizo Plain and Los Padres NF and the open county roads in Clear Creek and Hollister Hills in the future ...

See you at the BLM gun range,
-- John A.

Some SBR folk are staging out of Wagon Wheel near Ridgecrest this weekend. One or two are already there.
