Sonora pass today

Left SF Friday afternoon, camped in Yosemite, climbed Saturday, rode down to 395 and back over Sonora Pass. Lots of snow and hail and rain and double rainbows...

Nice morning...

Nix free bike keeps throwing the chain, wheel is straight...I suspect bad swingarm bearings as the chain will go from super loose to super tight and the wheel is tracking true. I'm frustrated by Lone Pine...figure it out, I'm going to Cerro Gordo and will come back for you.

They have recently started doing tours again at Cerro Gordo. They don't have water up there, so I took them four gallons and got a tour.

Never was captured...

Silver;

I'd better go check on Nicky, he was close enough to town to walk where I'd left him.

Thanks, it was a holiday weekend and a Sunday...we were 100 miles from camp in the middle of nowhere. I got back to Lone Pine and Nixels had given the bike to the gas station owner who is going to pass it to his grandson who likes motorcycles..the drive chain had broken, it was done. Easy come, easy go.

Nixels got to ride biatch on the flat deck of the GS, I didn't bring the passenger seat.

No pics on the 100 mile highway slog, but we saw my buddy Nowhere Bob riding down Hwy 6 on his street legal DR125 with a flat front tire. He's crazy, said he's just gonna air it up a few times and get back to his camp. Invited him to our camp for breakfast tomorrow.

Got close to Benton and the sky opened up, Hwy 120 turned into a river and we swam into camp. Renaud had stayed in camp with his van, gotten a nice sunburn and gathered up our tents when they blew away.

The rain drops were seriously the size of quarters.

We piled in the van to go look at the highway. Whiskey warmup made for poor judgment...see the foreground, looks the same as the dirt to the right of the fence? My brain said it was dirt and I fell in almost up to my chest.

Nowhere Bob came by the next morning on his big bike, hadn't seen him in a couple of years.

Time to head for home, they had Hwy 120 closed, but had scraped a lane back down to pavement...the mud was ten feet deep. Nicky and Renaud decided to just go back out to Hwy 6, I just went ahead and followed a Caltrans dump truck...no big deal.

I'm pretty sure that right about there is where Clint Eastwood painted the town red, landmarks look about right.

Played around a bit, new lower gearing plus new springs front/rear.

Back over Hwy 4...

No GPS these days, back roads from 4...came out on 49 right about 13 corners, damn good ride.

Then home...

Truck Ramp?

To the ADV universe (or at least the East Bay) - Off to a Mammoth DS ride this Thursday - Sunday and was wondering if anyone has a loading ramp I might borrow? Nathan has the truck but no ramp. I'd be willing to let you borrow my 3 rail trailer for the weekend as trade.

I can pickup somewhere in the East Bay....

PM me if you can help.

It's a dirt bike, JUMP that thing off there. :)

I'm basically in Tracy and have a full monty ramp if you run out of options, but honestly, you ought to be able to find a way to get that thing off such a low trailer pretty easy.

Someone is forgetting what a bitch it was to get his bike on a lower trailer even with the ramp...
