Nice pics! Welcome! Also check out http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...play.php?f=112, there's a small core of pretty active riders there.

I'm 'tard style currently but was planning on doing a run this weekend. I can't do long freeway stints (or don't really want to). I was thinking out to the Junction and if I was feeling frisky, maybe up and over Hamilton...

Which day? I could ride over Hamilton for lunch at the Junction (might go early and have some fun at Frank Raines in the morning come to think of it).

Oooh, my people.

Hi Lucas! (wakked1).

I'm definitely interested in joining some group rides in the Bay Area.

Haven't decided. I'd love to hit Frank Raines, but I don't have all the hardware for the huge tank, so I'm limited to I'm sure a max of 150 miles, so I couldn't play long there.

Where are you coming from again? It would be good to ride together again. You still on the 640?

I gotta see what the boss has planned as I need to be on baby duty for a good while so she can get some stuff done.

Yep, still on the 640, coming from San Jose. I'll ride back over Mt. Ham afterwards too. Maybe I could bring a transfer bottle, or something to improve that range?

I'll check with my boss too - preparations for Thanksgiving will be commencing I'm sure as we're hosting. But for now either day works for me.

Sounds like a fun ride, but I'm not sure I feel like an hour freeway ride each way (coming from SF)... I have a G650GS with stock tires - I'm curious would that be able to handle Frank Raines or would i need knobby tires?

You can get away with Frank Raines on non knobbies, usually. Oh wait, it just rained. Hmmm. How good are you in the dirt? I've not ridden there just after rain so I can't really comment, but it might be a slogfest depending on how much mud is left.

As for days for me, it looks like Sunday is the winner as we're doing the house hunt dance on Saturday I think.

If you've not been to the Junction or up to Hamilton, you'd like it as there is minimal traffic and the roads are pretty fun- just a bit of shmutz in a lot of places.

I've not been to Frank Raines after the rain either, but there is a creek that runs through it (a bit of bottomlands) which could be challenging.

Sunday is looking good for me too - today we're getting ready to host Thanksgiving because we found a house already - hopefully you've better resources than us because at our price point it was a needle in the haystack finding something we wanted that wasn't swarmed by all-cash buyers. Found a complex sale and snuck in!

Meet at the Junction - what time? I'll speak with a friend to see if he's interested, because he'd be on a dirt bike (wants to try out my 640), trucked in, which could bring gas cans...

I'll definitely be getting my slide on then. I kinda want to play with the sumo setup a bit more, so this might be really amusing.

Dude. This is a total exercise in frustration at our price point as well. If we could go up $200k, we'd be fine, but we're a few years away from that even being an option.

I'm assuming you're coming in from the Mt Hamilton side? I'd be coming from the Livermore side for the easiest way, but could also take Calaveras down and work my way to the bottom of Hamilton in SJ. However, range becomes a big issue at that point to go play unless there is a truck coming with fuel.

I'll send you a PM with my mobile. Anyone else, speak up and we'll coordinate. If you don't wanna do dirt, there are more paved twisties even to get where we're talking about than you can imagine.

Yep over the mountain, but i think its best we meet at the Junction due to fuel. No word from the other fella so probably no truck... we'll bring fuel transfer stuff and (why not?) a 1 gal can or two? I don't have a bit of fuel hose; if you got some that would help.

PMed ya my mobile too.

Hey guys. I'm new to the Bay Area and looking for opportunities for some day rides. I'm hoping this is the right thread. I'm riding a 950. Sounds like there might be something going on Sat or Sunday? If so, do you mind a tagalong?

Yep, today popsicle boy and I cruised around a bit.

Where are you in the area? I'm certainly down, but I have to say, my old bones on the little bike for a couple hundred miles makes me feel beat up. I'll opt or the pig next time methinks.
