Here's the gate answer:

Quote:
New Idria Road would end just past the Idria Dam Private Property where new Idria Road (R001) heads up to Clear Creek Canyon Road where a gate already exists leaving one at the base with one more gate at the top of New Idria Road. Mexican Lake Road would be in need of a new gate as well as T153 and T154 at the New Idria Dam. All that effort would restrict 4 wheels access, however the gates would have zero effect to 2 wheel traffic with exception to the Coalinga Road access into the CCMA.
From a post by ApexMolester on SBR ... god bless SBR!

So, it sounds like the gate at the pond up beyond the intermediate hill climb above New Idria ... guess that's the start of the "area of critical environmental concern (ACEC)" ...?

Here is a really fascinating document regarding the history of Clear Creek Road:
http://www.3rocks.org/ccra/Clear_Creek_Road.pdf

It is an 83 page PDF with lots of cool maps n such ... from a post by Grabast on SBR ...

Looks like a document prepared to request some sort of historic landmark designation ... someone spent countless hours researching the history back to the 1800s ... there's another PDF for Mexican Lake Road, too ...

see you around the campfire,
SFMCjohn

I'm really not trying to be obnoxious here but, your garage? It takes what, 3 tools to do that job? All of which are probably in the OEM tool kit? Or am I missing the boat completely and you are looking to purchase a new tank?

Grabast owns land up in Clear Creek Area, adjacent to BLM boundaries. He's not an off roader, but shares the interest off roaders do in getting clear creek reopened. He's done a lot of hard core research. The man puts together some serious tomes of knowledge.

IIUC, the ROD opens no new TRAILS per se, but it does open up some BLM roads, within the 5 day/yr restriction. So technically, some stuff has been reopened. Just not one single foot of single track. So ADV riders might have reason to be a little happy (they're plated). Your avg dirt biker (unplated) still can't ride there and that's what clear creek was for (dirt biking), so IMO, this HAS to change since the closure was done on false pretenses (rigged testing designed to produce desired results, not REAL results).

Definitely a possibility- I'm open as far as I know right now. Want me to just bring the Jeep and the family, or should I bring down the little bike? I still need to give some love to the pig prior to taking it out again.

4x4 ADV? I hadn't thought about that (might we get banned for even discussing this? ). I have a Nissan 4x4 that should be fine on the CCMA county roads. Maybe my family might want a tour too. Lemme ask.

I'd like to get my bike out of the garage, and at least at Clear Creek I don't have to worry about chasing you on any little bike trails...

I think if family is involved, we can get a bye from the inmates. And don't worry about getting stuck; the big nasty on the front of the Jeep can sort you out.

Let me know and perhaps I can convince the boss for a little sight seeing.

Otherwise, I'll just bring the little bike down and we can meet somewhere and ride the rest of the way.
