Old Toll Road and Mendo Rally 4 ...

Hey BAARCers,

Had a wonderful time at the Mendo Rally this weekend ...
Great ADV Rally, saw a bunch of guys who post here and in the West Forum ...

Leo_jb tells me the gate is unlocked at Reiff Road ...
I had to go through Petaluma to visit Mike at EdCo
(has a KLR cylinder needs a re-bore), so I got a chance to do
Old Toll Road, instead of the usual Reiff Road/French Ridge route the gang did ...

I've been riding past this stretch of dirt road for
years on 175 cuz ima idjit ...

Old Toll Road runs parallel to 175 to the south between Hopland and Lakeport ...

About 15 miles of graded gravel road ... fun ...
Thanks to mootsuno for posting about it so I could find it ...

The Mendo 4 Rally was epic as always, especially when the weather co-operates ...
Hull mountain was open ... I got to ride up a couple of times to watch the
sunrise from the 6800' peak ...

Cruised Anthony Peak ... turned back by a small snow drift a short way from the top ...

A scene from 23N69 a short fun fire road that runs between the
campground at the top of Anthony Peak to M2 ...
bunch of small water crossings ...

Lots of wildflowers on Bentley Ridge ...

M1 winding down to Lake Pillsbury ...

Lake Pillsbury is maybe three or four hours from San Francisco,
with hundreds of miles of fire roads to explore ...

Thanks to mootsuno, SanGJan and everyone who puts on
the Mendo Rally, looking forward to #5!

see you around the campfire,

Right now, the pavement on the clearlake side is a bit torn up and has loose stuff. It's still good, but needs work.

The other side, though, is mostly pristine pavement and is hellaciously fun to ride.

Haha, hey cxwing!

Super-fun meeting and riding with you at Hollister, and lots of fun riding around Hollister with some big bikes ... your cool GSA, and a new 800GS ... quite a diverse group of bikes with the Murphy's KTMs and my KLR!

There will be a bunch of the same guys at Hollister on May 17-18th for the rescheduled Wild Piglet Family Enduro on Saturday ... be a handful of guys there to run the Family Enduro, and some guys to sit around the campfire, anyway ...

I'll be up in Stonyford on 5/16-18 for the Sheetiron and in Deer Valley near lake Pillsbury on 5/28- 6/1 for the Funduro ...

You'd be welcome at any of these events ...

Hope to see you again, soon!
-- SFMCjohn
PS: wow, that's a seriously early ADV join date ...

Man, you were flying on your KLR. The first time you passed me, I just looked to the side and remember looking down at your wheels and noticed THEY WERE BOTH IN THE AIR

Hey cxwing,

Haha ... I was cheating ... it was my knobby tires!

Here's another pic from that day at Hollister Hills OHV Park:

What a fun day that was ...

I wouldn't see it as a problem as long as luggage and everything is off. Bring a really big lock and just tie all the bikes together.. that's what i would do.
