So.... where'd ya go? Looks great.

What was with the off bike wheelie? I couldn't tell if there was damage in the pic, but it looked like Todd was pointing at the axle.

we went to Sierra national forest..

Todd submerged his bike on a creek crossing and we were getting the water out of the pistons..

we had a better one with the bike turned on it's front wheel the same angle but could not get a pic..

Yep, water got into the crankcase, so I changed the oil and removed the now ruined filter. Turns out the filter helps form the seal and I lost a bunch of oil before paul noticed the leak in the road. Got more oil and used gasket sealler around the filter cover. That lasted all the way back to Casa De Fruita where I started loosing a little oil. Made it back to SC with plenty of oil left in the site glass, so the leak wasn't too bad.

It's funny, But all these pics represent only about two hours of riding. I spent almost all my time there working on my bike or getting oil from the closest store which was a 40-50 mile round trip. (I did it twice)

One of the water crossings. It was a baby head river bed and in parts over knee deep. Paul's bike sucked a little water and stalled it was so deep.

The guy in the back of the pic saved my ass by loaning me a 13/16th 12 point socket for my 19mm oil drain plug that I will never be without again. Apparently, although I got this from second hand info don't quote me, most Toyta lug nuts are 19mm, so in a pinch you can borrow one from somebody's tire change kit.

After getting wet and cold the fire was nice.

A camp site atop Cattle Mountain.

We had been warned that it was narrow with sharp drop offs to the sides, but honestly it wasn't too bad.

Coming back down.

The views were ok I guess...

The view were just OK... no biggie..

that river crossing was a bitch.. go to fast and water stalls your bike.. go to slow and have to put a foot down.. If you can even reach the ground.. now thanks to my S suspension and super tall seat..

Thanks for the track Paul. Looks like a great spot. I hope I can visit it sometime.

Maybe you should hardwire that GPS.

Don't forget mosquitos. I've got 24 bites just on my left foot. Oh, and annoying dogs that cruised up to Paul's tent and barked at 6:30 in the am and a guy named Tony who was a 4wd Toyota Matrix ADVer nearing the end of two years on the road. He started in NY and went through central America, and up through CA. He was cool and helped with my water logged bike. Yep the trip had it all...

Awesome pics Todd. I have an Extra Scotts oil filter you can have for a large #7 Hwy one pizza. (i'm not a fan of them but they dont go wavy when wet)

I gotta say it..............I aint the smartest sum bitch in the world but wouldn't a camp site this side of the creek been a wiser choice. Or a quick ride in the back of Mr 13/16's truck?

we didn't get the bites at the campsite. it was at the creek when he was working on his drowned bike.

at the camp site there were some mosquitos but not that bad...

Why do you get your pizza wet Spanky!?

Yeah, I normally avoid unescesary water crossings, as I hate having wet feet and a wet bike is even worse. I'm still wondering why I went across.

Because if you hadn't crossed it wouldn't have been as good of a story and you would've had to post it over on BoringRider.com instead of ADVrider.com
