Paul's Hearst Visit

Nice pics Paul.

How was the Hearst visit?
I am planning to take family out there in late August.

What snapped the chain?

Geez Paul you just can't seem to get a break. Either the guy you're riding with submerges his bike or your bike has a failure of one sort or another. Have you ever had a ride that went smoothly!? Maybe you shouldn't come on the Bodie ride....

My bike break ratio is really good actually. I just ride alot !

I have only had 3 total failures in 2 years and 20k miles (keep in mind the dirt to street ratio is about 50/50
1. Clutch Slave
2. 4 flat tires in 30 hours (not ktm related)
3. Broken chain.(not ktm related)
The last one should not be a total failure, i should carry a master link and chain tool. It's my own fault. I am fixing that problem.

I had another trip where my shock broke, but got the bike home fine.

I have many trips with zero problems..

2 (1000+ mile rides in baja this year)
ridgecrest 250 (250 miles of dirt)
3 mendo trips
tahoe trips
MT Shasta
and lots of weekend rides..

overall I am really happy with my ktm and how much abuse it takes. I would not trade it for any bike out there.

Dude! That's just pure sloth Check this out, it will take all of 5 minutes of your life to read and will make all your buddies love you and chicks lust after you:

I'm heading out tomorrow night, but will check in a couple of times while on the road for any last minute Bodie details. If you get bored you can always take a look at my SPOT page to make sure the dots on the map are multiplying http://goo.gl/OSRW

My only warning on this is make sure you bring an extra set of batteries. if you own the SPOT 2 and you leave your spot on for 8 hours a day for a 7 day trip and you have a problem on your 7th day you may have a dead battery when you need the unit the most.

The spot says to only use lithium batteries not sure why but they are $11 for a 4 pack at target. bought a set today.

So am I. I would've destroyed a BMW, 800 or 1200, riding through the whoops at my usual pace. I was just making a joke because so far the only rides we've done together, besides the short SC MTNs ones, have ended up with bike maintenance of one sort or another. Hell, I've had two bikes on fire while riding with you! (Both a BMW and a KTM)

Has anyone ever ridden by this guy deep in the Santa Cruz Mtns? I was doin' some exploring today and ran across his path.

Also, if anyone is interested, I will be riding this event. They promised some good single track this year. It is pretty good riding near Yosemite September 25-26th.

Yep, been there a few times...

My seats off at Renaco otherwise I'd be asking if you want to ride this weekend. I wanna ride that single track you posted video of on SBR.

Cheers!
