Lake Pillsbury, 8/13, 14 & 15 ...

Hi all,

Cary and I will be missing the cool Bodie ride T O Double D, Just Paul and everyone is planning for 8/21 because we need to drop Cary's sister Julia off at SFO on Saturday morning ...

But! We'll be up at Lake Pillsbury this weekend, Friday through Sunday nights ... We're staying at an RV campsite on the Lake and will have a blue Ford pickup with a camper and two dogs, two KLRs [green & barbie] a DR350 and a KLX250 ... will be on M-10 to Fouts Springs and back on Saturday ... SFMC stickers/gear, etc ...

Lots of food, PBR and Diet Coke ...

Hope to see you up there! Have fun at Bodie ...
-- SFMCjohn

PS: no luck with Pine Mtn Lookout ... it was available on Thursday night, but you have to rent it for two nights minimum, and it was rented the rest of the week and the computer would not take our money for only one night ... maybe in September, we'll see ...

Ride info in sig line for anyone interested... Also spamming BARF SJM and our local boards for riders.

Aug 19 & 20th

Rhubarbinator, myself, another of the Creeps MC and a couple others are planning a day of local riding for Fri, Aug 20th. We will be meeting up at Coffee Society @ Pruneyard in SJ on Aug 19th around 6pm, to discuss details for Fri ride. The idea for Friday is to meet up before noon (actual time & location to be decided on Thurs) and head up to Summit Road and run south and refind a dirt route down to Uvas Res. and then try an find a dirt route down to the Soquel area. Anyone is welcome, meetup with us on Thurs if possible or contact me via PM for details.

Most of us are experience street riders that are expanding into the dirt realm, so the ride will be friendly to all!

The Bodie ride is getting bigger all the time! I just got word another three riders are coming.

Something I forgot to include in the list of items to bring is goggles and something to clean said goggles with. It's gonna be dusty on the ride and just closing your face sheild might not be good enough. I carry a spritzer bottle with Windex in it. Sorry if anybody feels I'm being to preachy or anything, but I've had people show up with entirely the wrong stuff for a back country adventure ride and I want to make sure everybody is prepared.

Cheers!

Be careful using Windex on goggles, it has alcohol in it and can put minute fractures in plastics. Plain water or maybe with just a little dish soap is good!

Windex, over time, will cause a haze on plastic. Sometimes even peeling. I ruined a windscreen on my k1100 that way. I use plexus now. But water and a microfiber rag works just fine.

I'm not a scientist but I think it is the ammonia not alcohol that is not good.

Exactly!
I told one of my fireman friends about your favorite eating establishment in Tahoe. I haven't heard how he liked it?

Weird. I've never had a problem with using Windex. YMMV...
