Very cool John! That's one of my favorite areas to ride. It's amazing how many people camp along Risue Rd, but you don't see many people anywhere else in the area. Let me know if you want company for your next outing and I'd cruise.

Cheers!

Hey Todd,

Definately want to spend some time in camp with you guys, soon ... you all look like you have way more fun at a campsite that me! Doesn't look like I can hang with you KTM guys on the trail though ... ha.

Keep me posted here on the BAARC thread; I'll try to catch up with you guys, soon ... I'd like to do some more D-37 Dual Sport rides next year and try to work on my dirt skills ...

Hope to see you in camp, soon!

Cool photos, John! I gotta agree with Todd, it's a really cool place to ride.

We rode up to Lobdell Lake a few years ago from our campsot just east of Sonora Pass, thinking it would be a really neat place to swim since it was hot, but there was hardly any water in it. It is now known amongst my riding buddies as Lake Shitticaca

I just got back from a week of camping and riding on the Nevada/Oregon border. I'm trying to get a proper ride report together but it is proving rather difficult for some reason. Anyway, we had a good time and found some neat stuff while there...

I'll work on the report later today...

Lobdell is a seasonal lake, It keeps water in the creek for the cows that are grazed up there durring the summer. It is always low or empty near the end of the summer. There is a nice shaded spot at the NE corner by the dam for a dip. Be advised that the road to the cow camp passes right by there so you may get a visitor.

Bears, Bruises, and Spot Tracker

This weekend I went riding with my friend Bert. We had an amazing trip. got reported Missing, Had my Spot Tracker tracked by the Sherrif, Saw a black bear and cub from 25 feet. Hit some amazing single track, great food and some super hard riding.
Here is the link from my spot tracker.. It was not turrned on all the time and ignore the red lines that's just the software guessing were I am going.

Here is our camp, we set this up at 11pm, not bad huh...

On the Trail... Saturday

Amazing Views

Bert giving his bike tires a little cool off.

Bert the billy goat

I love Creek Crossings..

This was bert's first crash.. Missed it by 1 sec... He won't be so lucky the next time

Bert Thinks his motorcycle is a Boat...

Bert's comment.. UHHH I hope my bike is not flooded

Rippin up the Jeep tracks

Then we got on the single Track

Bert Posin while I filtered some COOL river water...

Some spots were tight..

Some Spots were a little overgrown... BTW: This single track trail was were we saw the Bear and cub... it was soooo cool... they both darted up the hill.

ahhh the Stand-up Wheelie... a favorite of mine

Kids.. don't take pics at 60 Mph...

Here we got into the hardest riding I have ever done.. it was the Rubicon but harder.. we only made it 6 of the 35 miles and we had to turn back or ride in the dark.. O ya my headlight is still broken... Thanks Spanky

Bert's 3rd crash of the trip... Told you I would be quicker on the draw..

we were reported missing by the camp host. They called the Sheriff, the Sheriff ran my plate and called the santa clara pd, they went to my EX Wifes house. She gave them my best friend's name and number and my Spot Info. (Thanks Summer) The Sherrif loooked up my spot and noticed I was ok but in a knarly area and running out of light.. They called Spanky and he gave them more info. On the way back to camp they lite us up and said is one of you named Paul. UMMM ya that's me... ok we have been looking for you.. we hear you are some bad ass riders... Bla bla bla... everything turned out ok and we made it home safe... nobody hurt and no bike damage...

Awesome pics!!! I told the cop " you were the last American boy scout " and could make it through the night if push came to shove. And ......Dude!!
I roosted your headlight out what.........6 months ago??? I think a replacement is in order. That's pretty cool the cop found you through your Spot link that I sent him. I was hoping you didn't do anything ilegal and the cop was duping me to track you down. I pictured the camp host shouting " you owe me 12 dollars!!!" or perhaps a felony warrant for pissing in a creek or something.

Apparantly you guys are not aware of the new legislation that went into effect on the first. Anytime you ride in the counties of NV, PL, ED, and AL in California or Washoe, Douglas or Lyon in Nevada, the TRPA requires you to contact me. This was innacted so that someone keeps an eye on you FF's so that no Bears, squirrels(including slow riders) or dear have their rights violated. Racoons and coyotes didn't lobby the bill so they are open season. However, coyotes in California are trying to get an appointment with Barbara Boxer to over turn the bill.
There is also a mandatory Orange sticker that you have to buy. Or is that Mandarin Orange

TRPA: This is not the Tahoe Regional Planning Assoc. but the Tahoe Riders Plated Adventures.

We have the ability to enforce these rules anywhere
