After properly desposing of those beers and shooting the shit into the night we hit the tents for a good nights sleep.
Well, almost. Tim had a racoon eat a hole through his tent and actually try to enter it !

The next morning we pack up the bikes.

Notice the bag of dead cans hanging on Marc's DR.

Dans actually an ex hockey player and had the battles that went along with it. He's one tough sob, but in real life, he's just the most gemtile, nicest fella.
Here he is showing the ADV world his new 990 Adventure.

We follow Marc into town for breakfast before we head out. Our target town tonght is Houlton Maine and it's a fair bit away.

Marc and Dan ready to show us mid-atlantic boys a nice day.

I still cant get over these guys. The rode a flippin long way just to meet and ride with us for a couple of days.

We are still heading in a east by northeastly direction. Once in Houlton, we will ride due north in Maine on an old RR grade all the way up to the Canadien border in St. Leonard where things get very scenic, remote, colofull and cool.
Cool !

Wow great report Frank! I have alot of Canadian friends too and they are the best people you'd wanna hook up with...Looks like your life and travels on the "road" are quite comfortable ...Love those beautiful campgrounds by the lakes...I never realized how wild it is up there.

So we were leaving the Moosehead Lake region in Maine. Marc was leading me and my guys as well as his NBDSC crew up towards Houlton.

We stop here for a break. Some of Mainer's might know this place. We are close to Millinocket.

Marc leads us down this terrific 2 track road through the woods of Millinocket or East Millinocket, not sure which. But then the beavers decided to build a dam and in doing so completely eroded the trail. The hole was pretty deep.

Todd

And he's made it

Myself

Now on the otherside

Moosie

Dan doesn't want to take a chance and muck up his new bike. Cant blame him, you'll see why soon.

Here's why, and here's DK.

Compared to:

After we all get across, Dan say's "Hell, lets have a beer eh"

All of us on the other side of the washout

DK looking back.

Mark even broke out his fly rod and caught a fish within 1 minute.

And Dan imeaditely ate it..........

After a small beer break, we saddle up and continue heading north east towards Houlton.

Hi John,
Only 1 day. The Super Enduro needed assistance outside of her own 3 gal. tank and that was in interior New Brunswick. But The boys from NBDSC watching us at home via the internet, knew it and made arrangments for us to have it at a hunting camp we would stay at.

We follow Marc through the woods of Maine for miles and it's super nice. We're on maintained snowmobile routes.
Big Dan

Another nice break along the river. The colors are intensifying now.
More beer too eh ?

Eventually we pop out on the pavement. We stop to re group. And we wait, and wait .......
Todd and Paul are not coming out. Tim goes back in to see whats holding them up.
Well, Pauls DRZ throttle decided to get stuck...............open !
Paul is ok, but is back in there about 5 miles and it's getting dark now.
Now problems for NBDSC boys though eh. Todd rides back with us to Marcs house in Houlton, still an hours ride north. Paul, stayis in the woods
I said "he's gonna do what" ?
Yea, he'll be ok I'm told. And he was. He built himself a little fire and sat there in the pitch black alone. Boogie man and all.
Hey, I'm from NJ. I'd wait a brigade of friends staying with me

Todd retrieves Paul and get him back to Marc's house.

The next morning Dan, Paul and Todd must cross back over the border and get home. The've been gone a few days now. Marc is going to lead us halfway up the Bangor Aroostook railbed before letting us fly solo. Tonight we will be in Canada. Our plan is to ride the bed due north for around 130 miles right to the northern border in Maine and cross at St. Leonard.

A pretty high trestle

Northern Maine "aint much heere" and man we love it !

North !

This RR was cut right through the woods long ago.

We eventually cross the small town of Washburn. It's here where Marc must turn back for Houlton.

We bid Marc goodbye for now. He has been and excellent host, giude and now friend. Thanks Marc, your a good man. We salute you good buddie !

We are on our own now. And it's starts to rain. The landscape is now getting noticebly remote. And we ride on for the border and the 800 is rippin ! I think I clocked 75mph

We hit the small border town of Van Buren late in the afternoon and cross without issue.
I relieved we are all across in St. Leanord Canada now and in a motel for this rainy evening.
