No need. I grew up in TX, lived in Mexico a few years. Mussels will be getting the spicy.

re: chairs (referencing convo in Cat Herders), I find the cheapo ones to be perfectly adequate considering the limited time I spend sitting in them, though if I recall correctly the Kermits fold up more compactly than the standard ones... if I were to make the splurge, it would probably be because I got fed up feeling like I've got everything but the kitchen sink on the bike:

(Of course, in my calculus the chair is optional, the hair dryer is not! )

Well, it looks as though we might get a little east coast contingent present. Been wanting to hit up that rally for a while now, but it's never worked out. This might be the incentive I need to make it work. Just signed up; Jack, I'm 50/50 whether I'll be flying out and borrowing a bike in NV or driving out with my truck. If you want, we could throw your bike in my truck and split expenses.

Dennis, Thanks for the VERY kind offer!!! If I was able to go, that would be the way to do it.
For JaxWife's sacrifice last summer, I am devoting all (almost ) my vacation time to her.
Rick's RDV and Laurel Fork are gonna have to do for this Spring.

BTW, this trip had many "firsts" for me and riding through Kansas was one of those "firsts". That was one brutal stretch of interstate. We passed many billboards with religious themes, one asked "where will you be spending eternity" and it was looking like the answer was Kansas.

To get to ride with you all out west again I'd ride through Kansas in a heartbeat, it would still suck though.

I'm in the same boat as Jax, RDV, try to get time off for Laurel Fork, and there's a rumor of a campout in Hinton Memorial Day weekend.

I'm going, but I'll come down the 81 corridor (prolly 220) and then cut across I40 (whatever parallels it). Maps says 2,600 miles, figure about 4 days hard ride. 3 days if I push it.

I-40 = Arkansas. I'd take the fucking Panama Canal to avoid that state.

I don't know about that. I've made 10 trips to Raton, NM to shoot, and after one trip on I70, I 40 was by far a better trip. And while southern Arkansas leaves a lot to be desired, northern Arkansas is positively beautiful.
