Hey Mike. I do not think I can power all of that. Heated grips and a quick release windscreen would have been great. the only thing that got really cold was my finger tips. The tank on the bike is small enough that by the time my fingers went completely numb it was time to refuel.

You have a 690, don't you? IIRC, the electrical system on a 690 should put out close to 400 watts (somehow 390 rings a bell). That will power a jacket (77) and gloves (27). A heated vest is only 54 watts and those figures are at full power. I have heated grips on my R1200ST and the Gerbing's gloves provide a lot more heat. You could also just get a vest and use Hippo Hands. back in the 60s & 70s (before any electrics were available), I used a lap robe and Hippo Hands. A vest or jacket would have been a Godsend.

Hell Mike if I am all plugged when I go flying through the trees on a get-off I might just hurt myself with some of those wires.
I will have heated grips and a windscreen before next fall.

You need to get that Water Buffalo running for trips like last WE. Put an old Windjammer on it and you'd be laughing at the cold.

The wire (you only need one for jacket/vest and gloves) comes loose all by itself.

Trust me. This is the voice of experience talking.

GC, it's 18ga wire not aircraft cable . I've got a small tether holding the connecting wires near each other so when I unplug accidentally I can easily reconnect.

In non-technical news, my knee pain is from a swollen bursar sac - no real damage done, I am feeling much better now thank you very much for asking. When you are young, you don't give a shit about bursar sacs. But the older you get, the more you have to worry....
