A question for the group.......
If the clown called you at 0115 would YOU answer the phone?

I didn't think so. Scotty sorry I missed your call. I usually don't answer after 2200 PDT.

I have been allowed back on the bike, street only, Dr suggested hitting the gym first. Lilli comes out of hibernation next week. This week , errr,

I am going to GS it again, although it is going to be a supported ride so I could take the small bike.

500 miles in a day of slab on the freeway with a thumper. That doesn't sound like a ton of fun!

You got the wrong thumper.

Mo power... Your GS did the job in high fashion.

Nice that you are back at it, Sir.

I've done about 250 miles of pavement on my 450 with it's 2x4 of a seat before. You wanna talk about a sore ass? :ymca

On the way out to the noob rally my longest day was just over 560 and the shortest 380 plus. Decent seat, but loaded with two riders and well over 100 pounds of gear. It got a tad tiring at times but it was doable.

Having decided not to trailer out west last summer, I was in a pickle. 7500 mile trip, 2/3 of which would be road and 1/3 varying degrees of off road. My Tiger 1050 (a 90/10 bike) is as smooth as a babys bottom and has a pretty good seat, but the fat 17" front would have presented some problems off road. The Tiger was winning... WAY more road miles than off.
My F650GS thumper (a 50/50 bike) would have been way better on the CDR, but I expected it to be torturous on the long stretches of tarmac. I have modified the seat to be pretty cushy for my tushy, but a thumper? Really? With my fat ass... for over 5K miles of street? The 650 was loosing.

I was going back and forth like a kid on a swing.....

Then just 3 words out of (Marty) Lakota's mouth made my decision for me... He said "why couldn't you" take the 650... Then I remembered his epic ride on a F650GS thumper from Naptown to Prudhoe Bay and back!!! Now, even though he's a Geezer, he's a guy who keeps himself in shape and has a natural badass intrepid attitude. I have the attitude but a candy ass to go with it.....
That was it though... and paying particular attention to the off road surfaces shown in all the ride reports. I noticed that there are a shitload of roads out there that would be muddy snotty nightmares, if they got soaked. 650 LAUNCH

My biggest day was day 1... 650 miles of superslab. My ass was fine... all my fears of becoming too tender to ride fell away and I had the time of my life riding my thumper. 22 days for the trip 21 days of riding to cover the 7500.

Would I do this on any other thumper? OH FUCK NO!@!!!!@@!!!

That's a lot better that the 15mpg your Toyota got going out west last year.
BUT, will it do 90 loaded up with beer, riding gear, and pulling two dirt bikes.

The clown needs to buy a 'merican made truck.

Too bad the only one made in the USA anymore is the Tundra.

Now if they only made it with a diesel!

Every other country in the fucking world has a Toyota Diesel. The Talaban can get them but US? Hell no.

Hmmm. did I ever say I'm a diesel fan?

A little 5 cylinder diesel, 6 spd tranny 4x4, you could tow a house, get 30 mpg and still be great in the snotty stuff! Scotty what are you waiting for? Open that wallet, yes I know it hurts. Don't think like a KLR rider, think like a KTM rider. More $$ means better.
