Rick at Cogent says the shock springs and emulators will ship early next week, so I got the KLR ready for her new parts:

The swingarm seems fine, I could take it apart and grease it up but with only 9K miles I think I might do more harm than good.

I pulled mine a 5k and there was minimal grease in there from the factory.........I put in some of the red stuff. Just saying. Your results may differ.

Out to work on the candy van.

Checked mine at 15,000 and they were greased pretty good,i guess it depends on the person on the assembly line.
Might want to loosen the rear engine mount, makes it ALOT easier to get the swingarm off.

You both also got the newer model.......the old ones were notorious for being under lubed.

Looks like with a little CGI it would make a cheap ass speeder bike

[IMG][/IMG]

After I read it...whoops. By no means does this suggest a KLR is a cheap bike. Damn I did it again :):

Well the new Maxxis tire kicked my butt. I ended up falling over and breaking my glasses. So after I calmed down I called my buddy Danny and he said sure come on down. "I put tires on all the time" Well it kicked his butt also........"I never saw a tire this stiff" "I just thought you were a n00b."

We finally wrestled in on there and I hope it holds air thru the night. If I get a flat on the trail I'll just call the tow truck.

The moral of the story is........... JUST PAY TO HAVE IT DONE!!!!

Time for a beer!

Maybe not having a beer while you were doing it was the problem?
