They have a 170/60 R17 and they've been approved by BMW for the GS for whatever that's worth.

170/60 R 17 72V TL TKC70 M&Savailable 10/2014

Trip Report. Rode Frim St Leonard to Lusby. Beautiful weather. Got new nuts and bolts at Sneades - great set of metric and SAE hardware. Explored the new dump entrance (?) I like this lil bike.

What about using a narrow 17" rear tire on the front?
We used to do that for scrambles/flat track in the 60s

We put rears on all our fronts now ..
For what it's worth .And love it...
Plus them rears have way more rubber than a front does...
