Just finished reinstalling the head and cams on the 500. I turned the engine over by hand only to find out that the left cylinder has no compression Checked the valves by spraying penetrating oil onto the backs of them when the head was off and everything looked fine. That's what I get for getting my hopes up

Damn.

The GM at our local shop was the guy that put together the CDR rides. I have tried to get his GPX files without any luck. I am still searching for local inmates that went on his ride. I'll keep you posted.

A thread a found on CDR

Here is the best thread I found so far for the CDR complete with .GPX
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108842

Many of the other folks who did ride reports use bigdogadventures files.

I knew I forgot something! Actually, they are brand new rings in freshly honed cylinders...but only one cylinder isn't sealing. I really don't want to pull the head again

How's the BMW? Any diagnosis?

Sux...
Nothing is ever easy Good luck!

No not yet... It is going in the shop today. First time I could get away since it happened. I am prepared for the worst.....It's not gonna be good news. I did get a chance to go triage pretty deeply and still can't find the burnt bits....

You did rotate the rings so the splits didn't line up right? Only other 2 things it can be are leaking head gasket or a valve isn't seating. Have you tried to stake the valves??

Good luck BG
