Bruce, you have time to take the HP2 on a 600 mile day trip well before departure. I'd do that, spending a good deal of time on slab and then make a decision. It may mean a better seat or some form of pad, but that's easily remedied. How about gas? Is it an issue? The Giant Loop should handle all or most of your kit.

I'd do it if - big if - the hard 600 miler proves that it can be done without undue misery.

I've made that trip no less than 20 times. Two days to get back from Reno due to a family emergency. It was rough, but doable.

I didn't need a first marriage to figure that one out...I mean didn't have to get rid of the 1st wife before I figured that out...
I'm always in trouble...if she's not mad at me, I worry

I found out after the first one that since the Marine Corps didn't issue me a wife then I didn't need one.

It will get him home.

I was too late. Glad to hear he is moving.
Thanks for all the help guys. I was able to jerry rig my own bypass cable by dissecting the fuel pump controller for the blue plug, tying it to some spare wire I had laying around, and wiring directly to the battery. Worked like a charm!

On a side note, I talked to the wifey and she told me that she's down for the CD trip. Anyone know if it can be done 2 up on a GS??? I told her the other option was get her license and she can ride her own bike.

At this point I have no idea if it can be done 2 up.

I resemble that statement. When all else fails don't flush.

From what I've read a lot of it should be no problem - there are lots of bail out routes if some sections get too hairy.
and if it rains there are sections in Colorado and New Mexico which are not good on any big bike.

She's talking to the dogs now... she wants to put them in a sidecar and bring them along.
