more miles out of the combination on the TLH trip. I would run that combination again, and may run it on the Continental Divide adventure. I may run street tires like Anakees or Tourances out to the beginning and then prior to starting the CD section change over to the TKC/K60 combo for the CD and ride home...time will tell. I hope this helps.

Yes it does. I have the 950 set up with a Heidi on the back and the Mefo on the front. The pavement traction surprised me (excellent - both wet and dry!) and the gravel traction (my road, mainly) is fine - I had to try to break it loose. My concern is the mud and wet, soupy pea gravel (or crushed larger stones) that we are likely to run into in AK.

Mike
I ran tourances from here to Wasilla AK, where I put prepaid TKCs on. carried the tourances with me up to Deadhorse and back to Rochester MN where I put the tourancess back on for the ride home. TKCs worked fine.

Since that was successful, for TLH I used TKCs up and back with no problem and went back to new Tourances when I got home.

For CDT I will probably go with TKCs again but am considering Heidenaus. Thinking I will use Tourances for the ride out and switch somewhere near the start.

My combination worked fine on all kinds of gravel conditions but mud would probably be a problem. Garrett has had problems with the Heidi in the wet but then again I thinks he rides harder than I do, I am kind of a puss when riding in the rain.

Badguy did a fine job of representing the SMIBs in Delaware yesterday. Dudes got mad skills

And of course in true SMIB fashion, heres what he thinks if you don't like his skills

Nice to meet your pops Mike. I may just have to start a Badguy thread what with the Dual-sportin, Sidecar racin, backyard moto-x and trials riding. Seriously, very impressive. WHATS NEXT? Hmmmm, Badguy the TV show?

Either that or Comedy Central...amirite?
Sorry, no video. But there was a kid riding the 4 line (beginner) like I was who had a gopro strapped to his chest, so I'll look for some video in a few days.

Nice pics Lonestar

Would you mind posting what tire/tire combination everyone was running?
I'd also like to know how well (or not well) whatever combination you chose worked; what particular fault the combination may have had; whether you'd use the same combination for the CDT; whether you would recommend whatever combination you used. In other words, what works and what doesn't.

We are trying to come up with a combination for Alaska that will work and if we can comfortably do the trip without a tire change (doubtful - too much hard road).
Got 5200 miles on Karoo Travelers. I like these tires...

And they didn't cause this.... It was all me
