Bruce mounted the Heidi K60s for me on July 22. I've probably put 5.3k hard miles on them, to include: loaded two up, spirited twisty roads, highway commuting, and riding unpaved surfaces (gravel, rocky scree, dirt).

Good: Very road worthy in dry conditions. I've pushed the bike over quite far and I have yet to feel any discomfort on dry surfaces. Much better than the tourances on unpaved surfaces. They last forever! I would venture to say that I've still got at least 50% tread left on the rear.

Bad: They last forever! I want this tire off my bike and I'm nowhere close to being there. My bike is my primary vehicle. I ride year round in all conditions. These things are downright treacherous when it's wet out. The tires get loose in tar snakes, which ain't a big deal to me. But what is a big deal is that mid-lean the heidis have gotten loose on more than one occasion on wet asphalt. Loose as in front starting to slide out a bit and the rear slipping out from under the bike. On one occasion I ended up loc. As the bike was slipping away, I hit the painted strip which made matters worse and the next thing you know I'm in the oncoming lane before I was able to regain traction. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic.

For my riding style, they don't pass muster. I tame it down a bit in the rain, but not as much as the heidis require. The tourances never gave me a bit of problem when it was wet out. Iffin I want to ride spiritedly in the rain, these tires simply won't do.

With general commuting, I will burn through those in about 4K, a good bit of flex, feels loose to me on the paved turns, not too good in mud....
606's...never had a traction issue (pavement or mud), less than $100, usually get around 6-7K out of them

+1 on the 606 for traction on dirt or pavement, at least on my KLR. I ride the pissout of it and never once felt it slip on the tar, but look like only likely to get 2.5-3.5k out of it.

Maybe you are giving to much throttle on the asphalt.

Scotty guess what I did on my BRT ride last weekend...bent my brand new IMS shIfter damit! Followed Lance's lead and decided to have a gravel nap in the newly laid thick stuff, dumb me got cocky coming into a corner with too much on the throttle, actually got damn lucky I did not f'myself up real good, was in the middle of absolutely nowhere GW forest. Too dazed and confused to remember to snap a photo.

Nope. The old controller had a small slice in the rubber backing. Water bypassed the gasket (probably during my hurricane Irene ride), and got into the controller itself. I didn't study the new replacement to see if the design or the gasket has changed. In 14k miles I've replaced two stick coils (one went bad, decided to replace both) and the fuel pump controller. I wasn't left stranded either time and both times the fix was easy as could be (thanks to this site).

We don't need anymore downed riders. Too many the past couple of weeks. At least the shifter is cheaper than a nice dinner
