I'm not a rum guy either but I always keep a bottle of Pyrat on the boat. Nice sipping rum.

I highly recommend Zaya!
Went to a rum bar in FL a couple years ago and asked for a good sipping rum and they recommended it, I've had a bottle on hand ever since.
Great on ice with a small lime wedge.

Sorry for the highjack

and there's another small distillery in the fingerlakes region of ny:

one thing to realize about the distilleries is that most brands/distilleries are owned by a small handful of companies. the labels on the bottles might make it sound like a family/small town tradition, but this is huge business.

Thanks
I'm thinking Scotland. Might do a trek while I am there. The history and folk lore are a big part of it so the Corporate ownership thing kinda does in the romantic notion.
If it were just product knowledge the local duty free has quite the collection to support my education.

I wasnt fond of it so I gave one my dinner guests who liked it the bottle on XMas eve...and a proper Glencairn glass to go with it.

Not saying it's my favorite but the O'ban 15 I am drinking right now is pretty good.

It's not scotch, but close enough. Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream, only available in Kentucky. Add to root beer, very yummy.

Oh man. I guess this is as good a place to brag as any. I was whining to my wife about drinking all my good stuff. "I need to start collecting. Then, I'll have a choice, and won't drink a whole bottle of XXXXX..." That was a hint for something nice for Christmas.

I was expecting a bottle of something nice. I got 6.

This Blackadder is really something special. It'll only get doled out to guests that are worthy

Currently, drinking a Bowmore a friend gave as a gift. Quite nice!

Current bottle is Oban Special distillers, previous was Oban 14. A few years ago for Xmas the wife got me some Balvenie 21, this year she gave me a total wine $200 card. Been racking my little brain trying to decide on what to get. Might get the Balvenie Tun 1401 next month when it comes in.

How do you ff's drink your scotch? Drinking it straight was too overpowering so I used to drop in a few ice cubes, I know I am a heathen and going to hell. I just watched Ralfy's video about adding a dash of water. WOW. What a game changer as it keeps the alcohol from numbing your taste buds and really allows you to taste the stuff.
