The Peterborough Airport used to have a nice little eatery that would serve you a great big farmers breakfast for about $6... Never did ride in, but we flew in many times. Been a few years though, not sure if they are still operating.

Little Louie's Burgers and Soup
234 Clyde Road in Cambridge Ontario Canada
Excellent Burger your way with a ton of options and as good as the fries are, the salads are even better! Go "Big" and get a double! Should add that the homemade hot sauces(lower right of pic) and volcanic mayo are mighty tasty indeed! Lots of delectable looking accessories.

I was just trying to get an update on one of my favourite places. The South Algonquin Cookhouse. It's on 648, just west of Elephant lake rd. I've been there many times, but the address seems to have moved the place further west into Harcourt. That same location in Harcourt used to be a rather horrible, greasy place. Anyone know if they have moved or what. I know they haved closed a couple of times when business is slow, but all the photos of the place still show the original locaction.
Also, seeing as someone was good enough to revive this thread, the Mirror Cafe on hwy 28 north ( just south of 118). Excellent food, great service, but I wouldn't call it inexpensive. A few minutes south of that is a little place called the Sommerset Inn, run by old friends of mine Dave & Laurie. Motorcycle friendly ( they ride, if you ask Dave nicely he will put your bike in his garage). Lots of good riding in the area too.

I forgot too, near the mirror Cafe, in Cardiff( on 118) is an excellent general store that sells great pizza, plus they have an LCBO/beer store and gas pumps.
Also, the bowling alley in Springbrook is unfortunately long gone. Which is a real shame . On Fridays they used to have a "Pasta & Dessert Buffet". One side was all pasta, the other desserts. It was as if they could read my mind. They were the best place around for breakfast too." You want coffee, the pot's over there, get it your self", just like at home. It might be good for someone ( not me, someone is not dyslexic, and knows how to use a computer), to put all these places on a map that we can all access.

There's a really decent bakery/cafe at the top of Deep Bay Road in Minden.
Can't forget McEch's in Haliburton. Hope it's still there, say hi to Walt if you see him. |
