I got my DVD over here in the USA and watched it last night with 2 other people that knew nothing of Sibersky Extreme.

I think the main feature is good as a primer for those that would know nothing about it. If the main feature was 60-90 minutes that would have been fine too.

But for probably most of the people that would buy it, they'd want more nitty gritty detail. For me, if it was 2-3 hours long, that would have been fine with me. More video or more anecdotes or whatever. I like that you narrated it and most of the music was good. The extras were really good.

Overall it was worthwhile and enjoyable and thanks for putting the effort into making it happen.

I'd say next time tell the story like you want to tell it and let the chips fall where they may, just as you do in your ride reports.

The great thing about all this is that it has opened up a lot of other possibilities for other people by giving them some ideas about previously unknown areas. There are probably a lot of other tracks and soviet era roads out there waiting to be discovered as well.

It does a bit son but fret not. When you get a bit older I'll get you a Tonka truck all of your own so that you can go play

HOLY EFFIN COWBELLS BATMAN.

What an EPIC journey!!!!! I've only been on the ADV board a little over month now and came across this thread and have been glued to my computer reading all 104 pages of it as well as several of your other threads.

I can only dream of doing a journey like this and even my dreams can't compare to what you have put in this RR.

Thank you for taking the time to share your epic travels with us mere mortals.

Soundtrack?

Howdy WC,

I was wondering if you are looking for a band to do any future soundtracks for you. If so you might want to consider these guys...

DVD - next the BOOK

I finally got my DVD two days ago. No fault of SibirskyExtreme or the normal order source, it was a 'freeby' (I hope!!) and local mail here usually sucks so we tried other routes - which failed!

Interesting for me to watch. It was quite a revelation of what I had forgotten (age?) - but a fair portrail of the bits I saw first hand and know about.
Good stuff.

Now for THE BOOK !

Pretty soon I think.

I did proof read the text and now look forward to seeing the actual copy with photos, charts, appendices, etc.

W - anywhere for advanced orders ?

got my copy of this awesome documentary

Just got my copy of the DVD (it arrived in Ontario in roughly 10 days). Love the movie, but especially Walter's extras... quite a smart move to share with us the pieces that fell from the cutting board. I'm quite impressed with the quality of the images given the technical minimalism imposed by riding without any support team, especially after seeing both of the "Long Ways" from Ewan & Charley (which involved 1-2 levels of magnitude more in filming support). I also admired the usage of stills panning which brought wonderful sharp colors and scenery. D90, eh?... It so happens to have one and got the G650XCh this spring, just need way more miles in the saddle

Sir, you are an awesome adventure rider and a scholar!

P.S. I wish there was a beefier DVD cover/envelop to document other bits, especially the ethnic soundtrack (yeah, I did recognized U2, Dire Straits, even the Romanian Zamfir on pan flute). There's this haunting piece at the end of the 'Stans, between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan which starts after that stop in Hostap(?) where they had the flickering light from that 2-stroke petrol generator... What is the name of that piece and where do I find more? Just kept listening to that mesmerizing swing
