Routes

From Benson find S. Lonesome rd. east of the Pomerene exit off the south frontage rd. Ride the main route to Sibyl rd. Ride it to within a few hundred yards of I10 and look for Touchstone trail, take it to Dragoon. Ride the paved Dragoon rd. to Manzora rd. through Cochise to the RR overpass at 191, cross it then turn onto Railroad Ave. crossing the Playa will put you in downtown Wilcox.

These two links are what I describe above and some.

Or from Tombstone take Middlemarch pass to SSV, slab Apache pass rd. to Bowie and find Fan rd. Take it to Hackel rd. pass the Hot well dunes, then onto Safford

From Fan rd you can also access Hackberry rd. ( sandy ) to 70 then Old Duncan Hiway to 191 then onto The Black Hills back country biway.

When are you doing this?

Down stream.....

Took a ride down river looking for warmer temps.

The Cascabel fair was going on, some nice crafts.

And music in the Mesquites.

The trails

Encountering more traffic on the river road than I do normally in 5 trips combined, I was happy to see my exit.

Great light show.

Good!

With forty seven miles to backtrack I was out of time for further exploring, I pointed it back towards the river.

Tying it together...

Found time to finish the project I started on Sunday.
And I spotted the third cemetery I know of in this part of the valley.

A sharp eye can spot my exit route.

Rolling along, I was anticipating the section that I had not been on in six years. After that it would be new country for me.

Thriving youth.

A spur tops out in the saddle.

The saddle.

Looking out from the saddle I could see a good chunk of my route, but not where it entered the canyon yet.

After excellent riding the route dropped in.

The four wheel drive tracks turned around here.

The knot is now tight!
Now sitting on my tracks from Sunday.

Another great day of riding in Cochise county.

Forty Nine consecutive dirt miles out of a Seventy Seven mile total.
Really old no BS STL sign on the post, and the new PC sign and box.

Looking straight up Tres, anticipating the sand.

Is the sand worse this year or is driving a 330+ pound bike the reason I am getting worked?

BOTH!
And I like sand!

I had been looking at a loop on the map that would get me out of a lot of the sand.

It is a good route.

dawg, you're killin me... this stuff is all striking distance from my driveway and I havent got time to go find it!

I took the 4runner up to whitewater to see the cranes with kiddo and momma, and was tempted to trek out off gleeson onto some two track Ive never been on. Momma was unimpressed with the idea.
