Magic

Truly magical places, spend the nite in CHACO and walk with the ancients in the moonlit, a life changing experience
for sure.
I love the beauty and solitude of those places

Great trip - I hope to do something very similar one of these times.

I have plans with family again tomorrow, but hope to take a nice long ride Sunday - no plan yet, but lots of options. I prefer dirt, the more off the beaten path the better, but not too technical. I rode up to Oracle today and went the back way up Mt. Lemmon - it was a great day for it.

Yeah, it was fun.

Let me know what your plan is for Sunday and I'll try to jump in with you. I ride the 800GS and am by no means "experienced" off road, so easier is better by me. Longest dirt rides I've done are right around here: trips over Montezuma Pass, Middlemarch Road, and the Geronimo Trail Road. But, I'm game...

Thinking about heading over to the Chiricahua's - would be about a 250-mile round trip that would include Middlemarch Rd. and Pinery Canyon Rd (not going to the Monument). I'd be leaving Sierra Vista by 6:30 am. If you're interested (or anyone else) let me know and we can meet somewhere depending on where you're at. I'll be checking in here periodically tonight.

OK, great. You can't be too far from me, let's meet at the end of Ramsey Canyon Rd (where it meets 92) at 6:30. I'll PM my cell number. If anyone else would like to join us just show up there at 6:30 ready to go.

I know I said I was going to post these a few weeks ago...
Kobukan and I went for a ride on 7/8/2012. He posted a lot of pics in his thread over in Day Trippin'. It's here: Maine Rider's Arizona Day Trips

Instead of clogging up his thread, I'll post most of my pics/videos here.

We started in SV at 0630. We went to Tombstone and took Davis Road over to McNeal. From there...

The roads were good...we were running them pretty fast

Couple of water crossings...

And mud

Kobukan makes it look easy

We rounded the corner and the road opened back up to this

We made it over the Chiricahua Mountains to AZ-80 and entered

Only gas station in Rodeo, NM. Timed it perfect with the owner showing up within minutes of us getting there.

A couple of miles north and west, we start cutting back up over the Chiricahuas again, this time up closer towards the monument.

Came to a little place many seek and few find

Not a lot of pics thru here...we were just enjoying the ride...

Look close and you can see the switchbacks thru there...that's where we were headed...

Looking back where we just came thru...just dodged the monsoon. The pic does it no justice

From here, we drove to Pearce and went over Middlemarch Pass. No pics, but I will post some random videos in no particular order in the next post...

Great ride Kobukan. See you in September.
