South America, we be on our way!!!!
Doing a ride report while you are going is not easy as is finding internet spots down here so bear with me.
Better late then never so here goes. This is also a link to John L.s blog about the trip he is a much better writer but my pictures are bigger. http://just4fun-john.blogspot.com/ We left my house in NW Indiana at about 5pm on December. 13 and drove for 25 hours straight to Brownsville TX. with two bikes in a trailer and one in the back of the van. It was Tim the driver of the van also very jealousy that he was not going, John L. from Milwaukee (KLR650), Scott S. from Kenosha (650 V-Strom)and my self Mike C. (DL1000 V-Strom) from Dyer In. We will be meeting up with Jim P. (BMW RT1100) in Brownsville who is riding down from Detroit. The end game will be to ride down to Buenos Aries Argentina and deliver a KLR then sell or put in storage the other bikes. 25 hour drive to Brownsville lucky we have internet service and ADV to keep us occupied. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is Jim in the optic lime vest he rode down from Detroit 600 miles a day 1,800 miles in the middle of winter. ![]() It rained for half the first day and all day the second.

All is a lot better now but let me post up some pics then I will explain what happened. Scott is going to be fine. His brother is on his way down and he should be out of intensive care in a day.
These pics are not in order but they will give you an idea we were having a ball. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

We got up at about 5:30 am and got the bikes loaded and ready to go for an early start we were going to San Christobal de la Casas or would try to get as close to the Guatemalan boarder as possible. We had been riding for about a half hour and I was in the last position. We were crossing a bridge that had a high crest that limited your visibility. It had rained the night before but had stopped, the pavement was wet and as it turned out very slippery. As I was about to crest the top I heard the sound of a crash and then saw a bike half on the curb and half on the walkway pieces of debris scattered all over but I did not see a rider. I got off my bike and quickly walked up to the back of a stopped small white pick up truck then it dawned on me that Scott was wedged under the truck. He did not respond to his name being called but after a few moments we heard moaning coming from him. After accessing the situation we decided to left up the back of the truck and push it foreword and out of the way. At this time he rolled over was conscious and moved his legs and arms slightly a very good sign. He started to ask what had happened and has very confused, we tried to calm him and get him not to move, we left his helmet on and did what we could to calm him. Immediately some bystanders were on their cell phones and told us an ambulance was on the way.
