I have been weighing it out in my head. 5 bikes pop in my head weekly.
1- BMW GSA
2- BMW gs800
3-KTM 950/990 Adventure
4-klr650
5- Vstrom-this is new on my list.

I would like to believe I am an off road guy. But I am not. The most Off road I will do is washed out dirt roads. What ever I get will be used mostly like a goldwing. 600-800 mile days. Which is why the GSA is on the top of my list.

But the 800gs and KTM are both a sweet size. And for the right deal I could go that way. The klr to me would make a great transition bike. Something to test the waters in the Adventure world. I know it's crap compared to the others. But so many riders transition to the BMW from it. There must be some thing to it.
With the right stuff, it could make a nice adventure bike. And it's just plain cheap.

Tell me that's not sweat. And bought and accesorized new, it could be done for well under $6000. Used for under $4000. Not a bad way to test the waters.

I've been there and done that Dennis, if you ask me I would say to bypass the KLR and step right into a GSA!! Our riding styles are similar and you won't be disappointed.

So you want to test ride a GSA do you................

Gsa

He will be in you driveway in 20 minutes.

He is probably one of the few people I'd let ride my bikes. Just make sure he brings his KTM so you can beat the balls off it while he's riding the GSA.

Some time this summer I will pick a date for a NEPA ADV get together, maybe at our (my mom's) Lake Carey house. Pontoon boat, ski boat, burgers & dogs. Now that I'm writing this, it's sounding like a good idea. I'll start a thread soon, pick a date, see if it fly's.

Dont Rule Out the VSTROM!!!!

Dont Rule out the VSTROM!!! A VSTROM Will Go Anywhere A GSA Will Go!! and for about 1/2 the Price. Its really NOT a bad bike Off Road. It will go on any adventure you want to put it thru. Sure it has a few short falls. Stock Suspension.. Ground Clearance. But. You just back off it thru those sections and back on the throttle again. It will outperform most riders skills Off Road. It will haul your shit on any adventure.!!!

Here's a teaser from the Pine Barrens 300 last year. I got lots more if proof is need that you can take a Vstom Off Road.

The V Stroms are also great long distance bikes. Saw several this weekend in the iron Butt type ralley I was in. Easily holding there own with the big BMW's, Wings, and varoius sport-touring bikes. I love my KLR, but dont really think a thumper like that is a great highway bike.

It's getting tougher for me to get out as much with baseball season kicking into high gear now for my son.
