What had happened is one of the owners who managed the business retired and moved to Hawaii. Because I made the effort to pursue a master instructor certification in teaching fly casting and have become very successful teaching, he paid me a higher hourly rate than the other employees [even though I only work weekends]

Now, the remaining partners in the business appointed one of those full time employees to management position and low and behold my hourly rate has fallen to the same as the other employees. I mentioned the pay issue to one of the owners and he said he would talk to the 'new manager' about it. Well three pay periods later and nothing has changed.

Yesterday, when that owner stopped in I handed him my keys to the flyshop and thanked him for almost two decades of great times and headed off into the sunset.

I won't miss the retail end of it, when image wannabes come into a knowledgeable pro shop with a fly reel and line n backing they just ordered from the web or from a big box store and want me to show them how to put it together and use it.

What I will miss is teaching. I find it very rewarding to help those who want to learn.
Check with Glenn at McConnell's in Waterville I know he teaches and might want help.
Yea it would be a long commute but the area's great!

Me,Glen McConnell, his son, and many other area instructors used to meet up for a annually get together. One year he helped host one w/Dave Rothrock. Mention my name to Glen next time you see him.

You'll have to pull out your bag of tricks to have a chance at the other two.
