Brandywine Enduro RIders (BER) used to put on and Enduro in Pine Grove in the 80's. But a bunch of the land ended up being donated to a state game lane and that stopped that enduro. (before my time, I joined the club in late 1990)

in 90 and 91 they ran the Brandywine Enduro out of Crossfork, starting at the fire house.
In 92 it was decided they wanted to put on an enduro closer to home (all the members live 5 hours from Crossfork).
We had permission for Fort Indiantown Gap but just before we were ready to get going the fed's changed there mind.
So I started looking for land. I meet with a couple different land owners but nothing was working out. I started to try to figure out how to get back into Sproul (they told us back in the early 90's that if we ever stopped the enduro, that was it, we could not come back.)
It took me around 4 years to find the correct people to get back into the Sproul State Forest.
Once permission was granted, Crossfork Firehouse didn't want anything to do with the event. I had met the Flacks in 91 when I stayed in Quit Oaks campground for the enduro. In 1997 Dave (the son) was just getting ready to take over the campground from his Dad. I found out he was living in Wilmington Del, got in touch with him and we got a new place to start! That same spring Dave and family moved back into the the house on the campground. I think I spend 16 weekends in Quiet Oaks the summer of 1998 building motorcycle trail.

Now we needed a name:
I had meet someone up in the area who was telling me when they were putting the pipe line in (it goes right through the campground) it was late fall and they dug up a whole cave of Rattlesnakes. They brought in an expert and moved all the snakes over to the Sproul ATV area. So the Rattlesnake name stuck.

Last year was the first year the Rattlesnake was an AMA national Enduro. It will be National again this year. They expect to sell out all the entries online in a couple hours when they go on sale.

Stop by Quiet Oaks that weekend of July 29th. There is rough camping in the field available (or stay down the road with Snowman318). it will be dusty in the campground.
On Sunday morning they should have a spectator maps at signup (or get together with snowman318, he knows pretty much where to go to watch).

Oh, and watch out for the snakes. I have never seen one in the campground, but I did see a 4+ footer last year up by the fire tower

17A, that's a nice low number. I didn't like being that early of a number, I didn't want to get run over by the A or AA riders

I actually trophied the last time I ran there but my ride didn't want to stick around for the results Of couse that was over ten years ago

There is something going on. I thought I heard they were going to limit bikes to just summer (or shall we say "non hunting season".
