Dave,Every tire you mentioned is a proven performer and you have to consider how you rated each of them based on what time of the year you owned them and the conditions you ran them. There are many factors at play here. Just one stray example.... I tend to run more pavement than gravel in the winter months, but in the winter I don't push them so hard cornering on the pavement.

Getting opinions from others is good, but it'll just be how much they liked it and you may find out that for you it was different.

Prolly time to try the Tourance Radials.

Your going to have a hard time get'n the same mileage out of tires than EnduroDan. He's an extremely talented rider and even when going fast, It does not appear so because of how smooth he transitions from one input to the next.

Tire wear is due to static friction [wheelspin], not dynamic friction which is gripping. If your wearing tires out prematurely, work on things like throttle control, brake modulation, and in general smoothness.

My biggest problem w/rear tire wear is how much I rely on downshifting and engine braking. It's a habit that I just cannot overcome. People who have followed me have asked if my brake light was malfunctioning.

I am running Mitas E-07s. Very happy with the rear, feel like I gave something up on the front compared to a TKC. I think for my standard running i will go with a TKC front and a Mita E07 on the rear unless I am going on a long mostly paved trip.

when you need a new rear tire, is shipping cheaper we ordered them together? Your not that far away from my summer home

I love how my Shinko's work in the stones, but 2500 miles per rear tire ain't going to cut it.

The last time I checked 2 tires was $55 shipping.

I just run whatever tyres my mommy buys me....

I am prolly harder on tyres than anybody can imagine, I like having fun way too much to worry about tyre wear.
I just replace them when they stop holding air (usually)




but I have been know to like the heidenau K-60 for price verses wear issue but I tend to get in the dirt a good bit.





my bike (R1200GS) calls for the 150/70-17 (note the center tread, not good for mud)



but I run the 140/80-17, cause they don't have the center strip for the first 1000 mile or so




If price verses wear were not an issue I would go for the TKC 80 hands down for street and dirt... hell i think dennis even ran the TKC80's on the track on his 1200GS. but I only get about 3000 miles out of the TKC, maybe a month if I'm lucky (but usually only a few weeks). I can usually get about 6k outa a K-60 but it is spent when I take it off.. these are all for the rear tire wear. I can usually get two rear tire to one front tire with eighter TKC o K-60

but don't take any advice from me, what ever you do...

I just looked at shipping for one E07 Dakar and it was $50.00.
