I have been using the one with the big watch type battery and that is all winter.. they have a new one with aaa that I bought, but I have not used it yet so I can't say for sure if it will get the same battery life.

Sweet. Thanks Rog. I am tired of all the wires and the 2 controllers I have now. Should be time for that stuff to go on sale soon. I was pretty sure I was going to get the gerbings dual but have been looking at those wireless ones wondering if they would hold up and if I would need a stack of batteries to go away for a week.

Mine has lasted the whole season. I will probably change it just to play it safe once I start riding more regularly. But its worked every time I have used it so far.

we all ride, we know what werks and what we like. we all already tried the crap and now we got the good stuff. and dont "cheap out" and save a few pennies, it will cost more in the long run when you end up gettin the daul controller later.

good point Dennis, save you money (well spend it on somthing else), Maybe somthing newer and better will be out by next winter.. Hell Maybe BMW will come out with a Geo-thermal GS that pulls heat directly from the earth and transmits it directly to you body... But it will prolly be a litle bit pricey..
This may be a stupid question, but are the plugs the same on the Warm & Safe and the Gerbings gear?

Yes. I use mine with my Gerbings pants, jackets, gloves and heated souls. But I rarely use the heated souls. I rarely use any of it anymore. The KLR cannot handle much. So I turn off the headlight to run the jacket and pants and the gloves on low. I want a real bike again to run it all on high.

Ever thought about putting in a better stator? I assume someone makes one for a bike as venerable as the KLR.

The better stators don't add significant power. I found it was cheaper to try to save power. I run my LEDs on the lowest setting and turn off the headlight. That saves far more then the gain of the stator. Saving around 50 watts lets me run jacket and pants in full. I have yet to try the gloves with it. And I have never tried all four things. I don't get that cold.
