I broke my leg in the same place hillclimbimg w/some of my buds years back.

Instead of aborting the climb and turning into the hill when I lost all of my momentum, I instead I tapped a gear down , slipped the clutch, and tried to crest the vertical ledge at the top. Well unfortuantaly I purchached a little too much traction on a root, didn't react quick enough, and launched. As I was decending back toward earth I found a sapling to aim my foot to break my fall. Well it was more than the fall that broke. My buds, having no idea how much pain I was in said to shake it off. and come back down. I dragged the bike the rest of the way down the hill and when it tried to kick start it almost passed out from the pain. One of them started it for me, I got on, parted ways from the group, and gingerly hobbled it back to my van. When loading it up I came to the realization that it was more than a sprain.

The hardest part was telling my wife.

I hope you heal quickly and get back on the horse. Canada will have to wait for awhile.

I've only been to the one near Whipple Dam. I just recently noticed on the web that they list two locales.

Eddie just called me, looks like he's headed to the P. Fiddle. and then meet'n up w/H14 and the boyz.

According to their website the other location was in Centre Hall. That location is no longer open. Once the court battle with Snappy's is over there will be a Sheetz in that spot.

Max, heal up quick! Especially since I was going to contact you to find out where to ride my 250 cause I don't like to explore alone because of situations you are now aware of. When are you gonna post that video?

One of these days I'll actually learn to ride a motorcycle...
Hope you'll heal quick max.
I broke my fibula last year (April) on my KLR at the Spring Frolic at Laurel Fork.
Still bothers me, but my break was lower at the ankle.
Damn KLR! LOL
Anyway. Stay off the leg as long as possible.
Hopefully they won't have to do surgery on you.
Not sure how far you are from me, but if you need anything, I'll try to help out.
Again. Heal quick.

I hate how this site only lets me quote three posts...

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.

Dennis, I should be fine. I have good neighbors to help out with the small things, and I'm glad I taught my kids how to mow the lawn last year...

Thanks for the offer. If I do need anything, I'll let you know.

Sounds very painful. Fortunately I got rid of my wife, so I didn't have to worry about that part! My sister, who's an ER nurse, and thinks motorcycles are the devil's spawn, didn't think my x-ray was very cool...

Hahaha. Yep. That is definitely an advantage to traveling with others. This was a new trail that I found yesterday too. I wasn't 100% sure of where I was (I knew the general area though). I'll let you know when I'm back on two wheels, and we can ride some trails. There is a ton of great riding all around my neck of the woods. Most of it isn't legal dirtbike trails... But everybody rides and no one really cares. I'll warn you though, I'm slow and fall a lot!

Thanks. Ortho told me in the ER that I wouldn't need surgery. I have another appointment with them on Monday, but it's unlikely that I will need it. My fingers are crossed!

Yes, yes, and the video...

Most of the video is of me riding back home and bitching and swearing. This is probably the most unexciting 'wreck' possible though. Wrong gear, stalled, fell over. Literally.

Funny you should mention that. My orthopedic told me that the reason my leg was broken was [incident mentioned above] prolly because my boots were past their service life.

He should know. He spent many years as a ortho at a ski resort in Vail CO.

They were old Tech 7's that would almost fold over.

Dude. I give you kudos. That was some gnarly shit to ride home in with a broken leg.
Good thing you didn't lose it on the way home as you could have broken it worse.
Did you land on one of those big rocks, causing your leg to snap?

+1

After watching the video it looks like you had on some type of Moto boot.

Ouch!
