A rider and his bike were spotted at the top of Santiago Peak yesterday morning.

Day 2 GPS routes are available so you can get a taste of what we are doing.

This course has has been designed with all types of terrain, from Sand to rocks, to whoops, to hill climbs, to two tracks, to pole line roads, and some country roads. Absolutely no Highway. The goal was to get a good mix of everything so that each size of bike and rider can have some fun and some headaches. In most cases, a challenging section is followed by an easy/fast section that is either a pole line road or a "transit" on a length of pavement where you can get fuel, water, beer or something to eat if you're inclined.

Go to the "Blah Blah" password protected link on the KotW website for download instructions.

GPS FILES:

I see that there has been 18 downloads of the Leg 2 GPS file. Other than Wally, is it working fine for everyone else?

SPOTWALLA:

We still only have 11 riders who've tested their SPOT on the SPOTWALLA account, but 20 are signed up.

Yup, I posted my concerns but may as well post them here to see if the ADV braintrust has an answer for my problem.

My eMap tracks only hold 250 points, some of the tracks have ~500.

Is there a quick and easy way to condense them or am I stuck deleting some of the points manually?

Thanks
CA Stu

The software I'm using, Memory-Map, will reduce the number of points. I've already done this with Day 2 (all less than 250 points). I can send them to you if you wish.

If you use Garmin Mapsource it's very easy to do. Roughly from memory: Double click on the track. Down by the bottom right, click on filter. Put in 250 for maximum number of points. Hit enter/return/apply?

If not using Mapsource, I have no idea.

I am using Mapsource....

I wonder if that would not truncate the route. Might make for some quick section times, though...

Definitely will not truncate the track. The only thing I know of that will truncate the track is if you send it to your unit when it is more than 250 points.
