replacing fork gaiters

So I'm looking at buying my first dirtbike and i noticed it is missing the fork gaiters. How hard is it to replace them? Do you need to pull the fork legs out of the triple clamps or can you just pull the wheel off and slide them over the fork lowers? gracias for any help

Just drop the forks down out of the triple clamps. You are going to want to grease the steering head bearings anyway, and that is easier with the forks off.

+1

A very easy job. Don't sweat dropping the forks.

I know a lazy person (not me, I swear) who just cut the gaitors and then zip-tied them on with the cut in the rear.

Yes, I've never tried them but some people claim they collect dust/dirt inside. Easy to install though and if you kept it clean in there....

Get a bike lift and drop the forks. Takes about an hour with a couple of timely beer breaks. Not hard at all.
