so, ummmm... got the call last monday that BMW were gonna replace the alternator/flywheel etc at their cost..

and that they'd just ordered it....

and it was ex-germany so would take about 3 weeks to get here

but they'd but a 'hurry up' on the order...

but that didnt necesarilly mean much...

anyway, i guess this was all good news..

exceptthat was the 4th of march... add 3 weeks to that gives 25th march.. plus a couple of days i guess to get it fitted..

meant i'd blown my plan to head away for a few weeks on the 21st of march....

roll forward to friday just gone....

get a phone call from the dealer.... that part has arrived

so i'm back on schedule....

monday (yesterday) was a public holiday, so they are apparently fitting in now (today, tuesday,) 8 days after being ordered

so all going well, i should be able to go pick her up tomorrow, and still get away on schedule at the end of next week...

guess i better get me sh*t together and finish posting pics from last trip before then...!

I've said it once

But I will say it again, " Should have bought a Suzuki!!!"

All jokes aside, your Cameron Corner trip crew would probably suggest that you stow a good tow rope for the Khaki wonder bike.

Gee that is a pity Greg, another major component failure.

not too sure where to start again...

anyway, heres some pics.... you've read the book but not seen the movie...

so here it is... not much verbage, as if you've read the last 5 pages or so, you know whats going on...

this is heading up to the overpriced campground town with the raw chicken schnitzels in the pub...

and this is me set up at the overpriced campground....

and the next morning...after a crap night... busting to get outta here...

had a bit of a plan.... so headed down here...

...and getting not quite as good as the map said...

hmmm... plan not looking so good...

..

..

thought ot might be a bit of tough work with the heavy bike, but nope... straight thru...

and another few hundred metres.....

time to turn around...

wasnt looking forward to the mud patch... as i'd sort of come thru it "down hill" wouldnt be so easy going back up hill...

luckily i found another track and all was well... a bit more winding round and i came to this...

doesnt look so special i hear you say.....

well go another 50 metres....

.

..

.

turned around and came back thru again

kinda made the last week or so all worthwhile....

Thanks lads.. I was pretty happy w that pic too..!

Currently sitting on a train, belting along thru the Victorian countryside on the 150km trip to pick up the bike...

I'm curious to see how she starts after I ride 20 or so kms and stop for a coffee...

I'm not overly confident...

Great photos. The 'old light at the end of the tunnel' cliche.

Wise Man!

It will likely be 500kms of worries before you feel confident that the old problems are solved....................but you likely know it may sprout whole new issues

You sure set up nice pics thou !!!!!

so picked up the bike....

started real good when i got it (cold)

wasnt too sure from warm.... but a day later i've decided its not fixed...

but the new alternator is nice.... roars into life when cold

anyway, no time to stuff around with it at the moment.... i'll take here for a test ride over the weekend but i think that will be fine..

whilst down in Melbourne i also fixed the tent pole that a snapped at Mt Perry (photos of campsite previous post, raw schnitty etc...)

and also... drum-roll please...

bought a titanium Spork!

oh and this morning i ordered a new pirelli scorpion rally front and mitas E-09 Dakar rear... to be fitted next saturday at a little bike shop over 1000kms away

ok , so for those in queensland, i obviously went from Mt Perry, to Boolboondarailway tunnel...

from there i went north (and a tad west up the bicentenial trail...up thru the wonbah state forrest and the edge of the bania national park...

lots of fords to cross...

...

and plenty of cattle grids..

and really bloody cool windy dirt roads.......

i turned west up at "hazeldene"
..

bike was cutting in n out by now, and i limped towareds Kalpower....

.
.

there was no fuel or shop there...

so i just took a few pics of the railway line..

.

.

while the bike was cooling down under the tiniest bit of shade i could find....

...

from there i limped off to MumMungo... where i had planned to stay the night before...

wasnt to be... but i did the civilised thing and stopped in for a beer...

from there it was on into Minto for a bite to eat and a stare at my navel....

i re-fueled and had a squirt up the highway... just to see if it would all somehow blow away...

it didnt... i pulled up stumps about 20 odd kms bast Biloela, defeated... heading back to Biloela to call it in.. it was a long 20km... lots of forced stops...

Roadside assistance couldnt get someone out that day, so i was put up in a hotel again.... next morning the old girl was in for a tow again...

.

.

,

chating to roadside assist,it was a good 500km tow back to the dealer who'd done the headstem bearings... they lined me up a hire car....

mitsubishi lancer... went pretty well.. had to slow donw every now n then...

but just didnt look as sexy in photos as the GS..

i'd also got bmw to put me up in Noosa rather than Caloundra where the dealer was...

they sent me a text with the address... i rolled in...and it seemed a suitable place to be stuck
