Okay, now you guys have me wanting to brew beer. I don't have the room for doing that nor do I need another hobby!

In short, don't be put off by F800GS reliability reports on the net, or any reliability reports on the net for that matter - a few posts get cross-referenced and before you know it, your electric toaster will kill us all on 31/12/99...
The plural of "anecdote" is not "data."

Incidentally, I mentioned elsewhere that I would be up for hosting a "tech day" for anyone who has never brewed beer and wants to see it done. My kitchen and house are pretty small...but could maybe accomodate 6 people. Basically you can come and brew some beer which we can then drink at a later date (at whatever homebrew fest we devise perhaps). Let me know if you're interested and we'll set something up.

It will at least give you some insight into what is involved.

You're definitely in, 'cuz you replied first in the other thread. I'm thinking mid feb ish, but dates are flexible. We have time. Let me know if you have a preference.

Anyone else?

I'd be willing to host if space is an issue. I'll loan out my equipment to let a n00b give this a try. The more brewers the better.

I'm easy on hosting. Hosting an actual introduction to brewing, where there are bags of grain, malt and large pots of boiling wort are a bit different to the more social side of just consuming the final product - which is why I reckon 6 is a good number for the brew day. So I'm still up for anyone to come and brew beer with my stuff. Hosting the social event - I'm cool either way. My house is full of motorbikes at the moment, which is why it's easier for me to host come May.

But it's all good. Maybe we should just propose a date for the social event bit and work backwards from there.

Basically sounds like GSAnderson and myself should coordinate this between us.

Gonzo, If you have at least a studio apartment with at least a basic kitched, you've got room. That's where I started learning. Occasionally, I would have two batches going at the same time. Admittedly, I was single at the time.

I don't brew in the kitchen anymore. I've built up a dedicated area in the laundry room. That way, the Mrs doesn't have to look at boilovers on her stove or on the wood floors.

If the consumption of beer is involved I can be counted on it's just the kinda guy I am. As long as it doesn't interfere with the Coons+Coons Copper Canyon Moto-Tour Feb 12-28 hint, hint.

Sounds interesting to me. Beer, bikes, road trip. What's not to like.

A chance to get some new ideas on brewing techniques and maybe some new recipes.

Plus a chance to listen to a Matchless G12.

What could possibly go wrong?

Who actually wants to brew a batch of their own?

The matchless is shown in this photo

So it'll be a little while before you can hear it - but I do officially have the whole bike and the (UK) title for it.
