Thanks for that site Buzz. I am not a snake person, but know that they are usefull. I had a few black snakes in my yard in the Keys and they did great feeding on rats that my white trash neighbors tried to 'breed'
Rats love to chew on wires and on boats that can really be an issue..

Helluva year end report men. That accidental bombing site is some kind of somber.

We had a ball, it was necessary to me to temper it w/ some sad.

For those of you who find statistics meaningful/comforting, consider that the 700+ sq/miles of mainland EG reservation is one of the most bombed places on the planet, and these have the been the only known civilian fatalities in 70-something years of EG's existence. As Inept and i discussed at the Cosson farm, this incident likely quietly changed a bunch of safety ops at EG from then on.

If you go by the Army Air Corps' explanation at the time (and it's flatly the only explanation that was ever given, so you pretty much have to accept it), the bombs hung in their racks over the range during the release phase. They were already armed for release of course, and the official story says they dropped late as the aircraft was past the range impact area, over the Cosson farm.

Note that no one's ever said categorically that range C-62 was the intended target-- that's purely my assumption given the proximities involved and my knowledge of the range. C-62 is the only high-altitude target range on the reservation (note the concentric target circles), but this may well have been different in WWII. The working target range may have been elsewhere, further away, etc. I will find out. 3 miles separation seems crazy close to civilian land

Not to be an apologist, but it was wartime remember-- the AAC understandably did'nt have the PR mechanism that the MIL has today. If the same thing happened today there'd of course be uber-press coverage and a huge MIL PR effort. But even in that context the support the Cosson family got is scandalous.

I def intend to research this further-- not for scandal-rousing but simply b/c i'm interested From what i understand, all but one survivor is dead now, and he lives near the site and is elderly now. Not much to be gained but the answering of historical questions

It's admittedly a footnote to local history, but i'm keen to know more. I'm a curious mug

A sad story indeed but things like that sometimes just happen. No matter how it is explained a family is left devastated and we can only hope that it won't happen again. Thanks for the information on this Mug!!

well after reviewing your year in review thread ive come to the conclusion that you guys all pretty much suck. you wouldnt suck quite as bad if you rode a scooter like my vino 125 which is the baddest mofo around, but instead you all ride dirtbikes. only steers and queers ride dirtbikes and i didnt see any horns so that kinda narrows it down.

yall are lame your pictures are lame and i tell you what my scooter trash buddies can ride farther faster than any of you and on top of all that they have better pictures at the end of the day. so there

i gotta go so i can kill me some wii deer. like a real man.
