Glad to enjoy the trip with you, just curious what happened to all the pretty girls?

Not one picture of a local gal?

still not too late to post

What larger bikes did they have and what did it cost to rent the bikes?

Thanks,

Ian

Great report. I flew into Clark AFB back in the late 80's while I was stationed
at Futenma MCAS Okinawa and spent a couple days on leave exploring that area (mostly the bars and women). I've always wanted to go back but havent made it yet. It took some nerve to go half way around the world by yourself and ride an unfamiliar country, you are the man! Now that your back lets make sure we get together and do some riding soon. Thanks again for the great report glad you made it back safe and sound. Happy New Year.

I just wanted to thank everyone who viewed and replied to my trip report. It made me glad I took the effort. I am notoriously lazy when it comes to writing. I see that it brought back memories for some. It was good to gather contacts of riders who live there, or are interested to travel there, since I will probably ride there again. Island hopping with motorcycle/ferry sounds interesting to me.

I see there was some questions about license requirement which were correctly answered by people who know more about it than me. I was never stopped and asked to show my license.

If anyone is planning to travel to the Philippines and has any additional questions, feel free to send me a message. I have a little bit of wisdom about it but I have to admit most of my success was due to pure luck. tc

Congratulations on an adventure of a lifetime Steve!

I wish we could have had a beer or even a cup of Alamid coffee somewhere in the boondocks of the P.I. A lot of similarly inclined riders would have joined you or at least in some segments of your adventure.. but then again, solo riding in a strange land would have been more exciting.

And no wonder why you had fun! Hercules (Herc), your contact buddy here in the Philippines is an excellent source of local information and an excellent all-around rider. Did you meet the guy? He generally rides a KTM 640 ADV. Here he is in his more lucid moments!

After reading your RR, I feel like going there.
Have you got the email address for the bike rental company so I can check out if they have bikes big enough for a two up ride.

Hey Doc. hahahaha you really caught that moment in Mindanao when I popped that low speed wheelie on a BMX borrowed from the boys inside the shipping yard.

Great seeing you in the boards. Please check this thread in the Asia Regional thead area ---> http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=325844

Great ride report, really brings back the memories! My wife and I had our honeymoon in Baguio over thirty years ago....

Been thinking about a visit but maybe down south this time to Cebu and maybe Palawan/Puerto Princessa.

Airfare out of Dallas is around $900 bucks, cheaper from the West Coast.

For those of you tempted by this trip I say do it! The scenery, food and people of the Phillippines can't be beat.
