Toolbox

Does your toolbox fit the BMW OEM skid plate for the 2013 F800GS?

Hi RandoCommando,

Thanks for the question, but no sorry to say it won't fit the BMW OEM skid plate. The "pointy bow" takes a way too much clearance between it and the front wheel.
It will fit with some other skid plates out there, but that doesn't help you much.

Btw here's the thread on the Tool Box:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=750749

We will be building more of them over the winter.

Thanks,

Dave

"KISS Pelican install on MOD
No question the Caribou system is awesome, but I thought I'd show my install to show A) how the MOD rack KISS worked, and B) how a Pelican 1500 case fits on the MOD rack. I do think the 1500 is a little too large: as you can see, it's a little hard to get to the tie-downs (I can fit a ROK strap in there, but it's not ideal). I do think a 1450 or smaller might be a better size."

Interesting point about getting to the tie downs. This seems to suggest that a bent down edge flange like the SW Motech steel rack might have an advantage from this perspective?

Yeah I've though about it. It's going to raise the price with the extra process though and it just doesn't seem to be much of an issue either.
You can anchor the straps before anything is put on it too.

MOD BMW F800 GS V3 Skid Plate

Bret, who is one of the contributors/testers for ADV Moto magazine has just mounted up the MOD V3 skid plate (and Side Stand Foot) on his F800 GS for his AZBDR trip and his upcoming South America trip!

He has the skills to put the parts to the test (he's also a PSSOR instructor and has beat up more than a couple skid plates on his F8 so far) so I'm looking forward to see what he thinks...

A couple of pics of it mounted up on his bike:

yup complete coverage right back to the cat

notice the completely protected lower engine mounts and the vent slots underneath too

Already on the way to the AZBDR:

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dick,

I have your contact info from the skid plate order so I'll just email you the info/Paypal Invoice.

Thanks very much for the repeat order!

Happy trail adapters

Dave I forgot to mention I am installing the Happy Trail luggage rack if tha=
t makes a difference in the adapters for the top plate. Looks to me like it does. I tried to email you after placing the order but the mail came back undeliverable. I used the link on your web page to attempt it. You might want to check out that link. Hope this method of communication gets there in time. Dick Strohmeyer

Hi Cubdriver!

As you already know I did get your email (email got spammed to death) and your Top Rack left yesterday with the Happy Trail spacers included

Thanks again!

MOD toolbox

I just got my tool box. Excellent communication from seller. Great customer service, and as always top notch product. I have zero complaints. The skid plate is tough as nails and the toolbox build quality very good!

Dave,

Do you think a 1.75 gal Rotopax mounted off to the side of the MOD rack with the L-bracket would be alright weight wise?

Hi DomEOD,

Thanks for the q. Hmmm, there was no 1.75gal size when we first designed it so it wasn't tested, but I think it should be OK.

Dave

Woohoo! My first mod is on! After some "why did I start drinking first?" moments, it was the easiest mod I've installed on just about anything.
