As a former dubious Mug on the TOR business, gotta say i'm liking what you fellers are doing w/ the trail/unimproved tag angle. Good stuff, and even more props for dealing w/ the cold.

Joey i'll get that file stuff to you in the morn at work

I've ridden that little stretch right at the tag for years, in fact, if you're facing the tag, to your left is a hard turn (if you're approaching the tag along the fence) from south to west. Probably ten years ago, or so, I encounterd some guys I knew on mountain (pedal) bikes right in that turn. The were able to ride along that fence line. Today the bikes would be immersed in sand up to their bottom brackets. Just looking at conditions made me wonder whether the USFS has given adequate consideration to the disasterous (my term) effects of concentration the OHV traffic to those trails. Back in the day, "damage" was probably wider spread, but there was nothing like those OHV trails; and widespread though it was, it was a fraction of what I saw today.

I recall taking two USF guys out to areas near the trails we used for the enduros to show them that two years after the enduro, one could hardly tell where the bikes had been.

Bottom line: I ain't sure concentrating the traffic is such a swell idea.

That was a good tag and I enjoyed visiting parts of the ANF I'd not seen for quite a while.

The next tag (which I photographed today) will be slightly more urban, but of less interest to Homeland Security . . . yet it's still in the fukkin' woods.

Soon as I grease my chin, I'll post it.

Nice.... Which way did you go in to get it?

Now I've got to find a nice sloppy, muddy place to get one.... I like the way this whole Big Bend Tagorama is playing out. We just need to see how long we can keep it in the dirt.

I rode from my digs out by Bradley's country store, thence to Crawfordville road to the abandon gastation near Blue sink then headed west. Sorta 'blazed" my own trail thereafter to Moore's lake, then behaved myself and entered the OHV trail (12 or 12A, I think) off of Aenon Church Rd. to go fairly straight south to the Tag. After the tag I continued east to Silver lake road and on to points south.

I like both street and dirt, but when it's this damn cold, I've no appetite for lengthy street activity. Plus whatever generates interest in the game is what I like. Demand drives supply, ey?

Me and another guy rode Sunday for about 2-1/2hrs in the single track. It 38 degrees out and I was sweatin my balls off. That sand and the 2' deep woops will wear you out.

Looking forward to the next tag...

TAG # 6

The difficulty is in the eyes of the beholder -- as much dirt as you want, with a minimum of about two, maybe three miles, some of which are similar to Fuller's earth.

More clues if requested:

Good luck, inmates!

I meant to add a very brief note: I think a photo of the cemetary itself (w/bike) would do nicely. Some may be a bit queasy about taking the bike inside the gate. I know I was. It's a lonely place to be accused of desecrataion.

OK you all have until Friday to go get it. Friday seems like a good day to take a ride to Sopchoppy through the Nat. Forrest and eat lunch at Backwoods Bistro.

Any one is welcome to join me for lunch.
