I think I'm going to have to put together a short tutorial on adding video. If a post already has a video and you edit it in "Rich text" mode, it will wipe out the code for the embedded video.
You need to switch to "HTML" mode and then make your changes before you save it, even if you are only changing the description. I fixed the 2 posts I found where the video got wiped out. No worries, just remember, far right, HTML mode.

From preliminary discussion on TWT, we intend to develop a similar map for N,W, and E of DFW area up to Red River.
Additionally, I have offered to develop a google website that will interface these and future maps, along with a page on How to be a Responsible Dualsporter; a simple statement of etiquette, which is missing in some riders. The google site format is collaborative, so if anyone wishes to contribute, pm me. I won't have time to begin work on this until Sunday. If there are other suggestions for the site content, pm me or post here. Suggestions: 1. Page with instructions on how to add routes/locations/etc to maps. Next.....

TJrockit had once posted a video showing how to add stuff to the maps. If I can do it, it can't be all that hard. That video is also found in the google map help box. The main thing is you must have the ability to edit the map. Both the Austin area and DFW area maps have similar rules here - must be listed as a collaborator to have editing privileges.

I'll start working on a website this weekend. Including 'how to's', links to maps, a brief description of each region/area, blah blah. I may have to contact you, tjrockit, for where I can access the 'how to' info, etc. As soon as I get a draft done, I'll contact you and David for perusal and we can then discuss further content and how we want to establish collaboration on that.
Sound acceptable?

Austin Google map update
I've spent a few hours over the last few days figuring out how to move the road marker posts on the list.Simple click & drag! Also able to move posts between pages too.Arrainged posts by county with southern posts listed 1st (It is an Austin based map). The 2nd page has the northernmost roads.
I've also added separate listings for all the really great paved marvels in Gillespie Co (previously had 1 general marker). This county seems to have some of the most fun to ride paved county roads around. The water crossing icons are approximate since I can't quite remember exactly where all the slab crossings are on each road & the map doesn't always show the water. Whenever you other editors are adding road content...be sure to take a minute afterward to make sure it is listed in the same order with like roads/counties.If you're not sure about moving the post, let someone else know & they can move it.Also be careful editing the posts with PIC or VID Make sure the post is in HTML mode first before edit. I'm sure everyone wants to keep the map USER FRIENDLY when reading the ever expanding content.

Pinging Mr2much, Dahveed, and tjrocket.
Need emails from you three to invite y'all in as collaborators to website. Basic, and I mean basic, template ready. No real content yet, but we build on what's there.

You three check the site; I updated it tonight. If you can post comments about what else to do/changes/suggestions, etc on the other site, I can read them there. We need maps for the other regions, too. Who else wants to help on this?

Austin Ride Advice
Hi all,
Never been to Austin. Coming tomorrow with a group of friends. If we can rent bikes (f650gs or the like), probably go for a ride Friday afternoon and Saturday early morning. Looking for best suggestions for loop from downtown, maybe 80 to 120 miles on lonely, low traffic, scenic roads - maybe some minor, firm dirt roads too. Not looking for challenge, just a nice ride with lowest possible traffic. Anyone have 2 good suggestions? Thanks, any advice would be appreciated! - ed |
